So I just bought a new rig, here are the specs :

Intel C2D E6600
2GB RAM
XFX GeForce 8800 GTS (640mb)
Gigabyte P35-DQ6
250GB Hard Disk

Now with these specs I thought my 3dmark score would be above 10.000, but it's about half:
5367.
Now I'm using ForceWare 97.94 because most other (newer) ones gave me BSOD's after a while, which disappeared after .1s so I couldn't read the error. What could the problem be? Some tech guy came to my home to install the XFX, could it be that he forgot a cable or something?

Isn't there a different set of drivers out for the 8 series cards like 1xx.xx?

well for a start, the program is pretty intensive... my understanding, to get a proper comparative score, you need to leave all the settings on default, and NOT turn up all the visual settings to the max which is probably what you did... i did that, and got like 8000, it totally kicked my pc's ass...

i use the latest xp 158.22 forceware release, and dont get any issues.

Thanks for the tips, I reinstalled the 158.22 driver, ran fine for a while, then I had the same weird blue screen flash and then it rebooted... Help?

did you install the drivers that came on the supplied disk that came with the system/card?

if so, try uninstalling all nvidia drivers, and just use the ones downloaded from the website.

are you sure its the graphics card, not causing a conflict with something else? yeah id try completely uninstalling the card, and using a fresh set of latest drivers, instead of updating the drivers currently used...

so the problems were the nvidia drivers you were using for an ati card? brilliant Very Happy atleast you know why your score was so low now... i put together my first pc (not first pc ive owned, but first ive built myself) last month and it was a hell of an experience... ill never buy prebuilt again.. i love knowing exactly what went in, and installing exactly what i want... plus i know that i made it myself... it kicks. best of luck with ur new rig, hope you enjoy it like i enjoy mine.
