Codemasters have some very original filenames on their ftp it seems.

ftp://downloads.codemasters.com/demo/dirtdemo.exe

And now following that original naming scheme one would get:

ftp://downloads.codemasters.com/demo/overlorddemo.exe

I had some issues with the game moaning about DX9 files.. turns out they are not in the normal DX9 distributions.. I'm installing the following as I think it will fix the problem.. If not the second link should.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

If the above doesn't work, try this.

Nice to see that the link works, guess Codemasters planned to release it later today but if this spreads I'd guess they will do a earlier release or remove the file temporary untill more mirrors are available or such.

And that's the usual DirectX monthly redistributable isn't it?

Microsoft usually releases a new one every month or so though I'm no programmer so I don't really know what they change aside from the contents of the latest archives in the program.

There's the web based setup from the link above or the full redistributable in the link below:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b406cf67-d926-463b-99e8-27199d6626b5&DisplayLang=en

Most of the newer games are require the february or march 2007 redist but a few of the latest games such as TwoWorlds require the April 2007 redist so the best is to download the latest version directly from the links above. (Atm that would be the June 2007 version.)

EDIT: These new versions are also compatible with Vista and required for most DX9 games to work but there are a few DX10 related files in the archive as well. (Probably for developers or programmers that use the DirectX SDK versions.)

Yeah the game is fun, funny, generally pretty good! Not sure how it will play overall though. I found the controls to be pretty annoying, I think its better suited to a controller, but other than that the game is great! Runs great! Looks great and is really fun!

Looking forward to the full release Very Happy!

The demo isn't even supposed to be out yet from what I know so it'll be a while untill more file mirrors are up, just tried the above trick and was quite suprised when the file started downloading but since the file is up on the ftp the actual release should be fairly soon. Wink

Just played the demo and I must say it's a fun game. The voice acting is nice, the graphics are pretty good and it runs well on my average pc. Played it with the 360 pad and it worked without having to configure anything.
Selected Gamepad as input device and it everything was perfect.
It works really well with the gamepad because of it's pikmin style gameplay. Using the left analog stick to move and the right one to control your minions is lots of fun Smile

didn't try it with keyboard/mouse but it's probably a little more complicated.
