There is no serial and the uploader tries to encourage people to buy the game if they want one, atleast on the site I downloaded it from.

Similar to Halo 2 all that is needed now is a crack but that can take some time judging by how long the Halo 2 "clone" has been out.

EDIT: Game runs when copied over but immediatly exits since it can't find a valid license and isn't activated.

Installer complained about incompatible OS versions but once I copied the game folder from the disc and installed the latest "live" redistributable (only copies a bunch of DLL files to the windows dir since XP doesn't have those files normally.) the game started for a short while before quickly exiting with a invalid license error since I had no serial and hadn't activated the game during what would normally be a proper installation.
(Not really possible anyhow since the game release lacks a serial altogether.)

Ofcourse even if the game starts on a XP system there may be other issues and problems due to the changes between Vista and XP.
(Removed the game shortly afterwards as well since it's not really playable being a "Live!" multiplayer game only and paying monthly for a gold account just to get all functions isn't that tempting so I'll skip this one.)

What you did and what needs to be done to play this game even if you buy it sounds as fun as putting needles in you peehole.

Heh, that's one way to put it.

It's probably a decent multiplayer game but the whole Vista/Live! requirements does lower the expectations a bit and the free silver accounts are quite limited compared to the gold account wich even require a monthly fee though the price is probably quite low.
(Wonder how many Live! powered games there will be but perhaps the system simply needs some time to adapt and mature similar to the inevitable upgrade to Vista itself.)

I almost bought this today, after reading this I'm glad I didn't because I don't want to pay for a simple multilayer game unless its really worth it. More to the point it would run like shit on my machine Razz!

Don't suppose there is a demo floating around?

I'm having problems running it on XP. Getting 'Unable to initialize Live For Windows components' (yes i can read and copy files properly). Possibly something to with what JBeckman said about a live distributable? Some more info about that would be appreciated.

I am getting following message as well upon starting the game,

"unable to initialize live for windows components"

game just won't start cuz of this 'live' crap???? A solution offered on the Shadowrun official forums also does not work,

The game works fine here... maybe you need to install windows live and c+ 2005, those files are in the DVD.

Do has said in the NFO and finally install this files

Install XLiveRedist and vcredist in the shadowrun DVD..

the game works with bots too! Wink
