Its a good suggestion, and I apologize for boring you Smile I have X Codec pack which has never let me down so far, and tinkering with the videos (and config files) have produced no change. I also have no problems playing the bink videos.. But I will take your suggestion and try out a different pack. I would be grateful for other ideas.

Think its getting close to the level of starting a thread in tech support Razz

Since it crashes immediately at startup, may I suggest you install a codec pack ?
(I've gotten bored saying this)

That sort of 'advice' should be reserved for people you hate... codec packs are the devil, and with the possible exception of CCCP (which really doesn't do much more than install ffdshow, mpc, and a media splitter), should be avoided at all costs.

I heard a lot of people saying that, yet I never had a problem with a codec pack, and what little damage it causes (if any?) it certainly worth it more than installing each codec manually as you need it, and definately more worth it than actually reading tutorials and crap figuring out which codec is needed for what.

If you're a ripper, then fine. If you just watch movies, codec pack ftw!

So finally I found opinion on game after I scrolled back through a wall of text technical BS just because some retard installed a codec pack.

Anyway, hope Sad-persona is right on this one.

this game is the same like Homeworld but with added RPG elements ,

to understand more of the story you must play the first part , well this game is the same like Star Wolves 1 but with new gfx and new models , the voice acting is crapy but the fun factor is not - simply put its a marvelous game

Why does this game run like shit? I played Spaceforce Rogue Universe with all details on and it runs at 30 fps. I load up this game and it runs at 5-8 fps. And you can't even compare the gfx of both these games.

Fixed my startup crash problem. Tried the demo first to see if it was any good, it does seem like a gem if you're into this kindof game.
Anyways problems fixed by latest forceware (94.24) + newest direct x redist + reinstall - I'm always hesitant to install nvidias crap since I have an old card and all new drivers does is fuck it up. Thanks for suggestions

ps If you don't care, then this post ain't for you.

Rolling Eyes play it and judge it by yourself ,

unoptimised BS - slowdowns what slow downs if your computer is 7 years old they don`t come crying to me , works great here on Athlon 64 3500+ , GF-7600GS ,2 gig ram but yeah on vista in runs like crap Laughing its winxp game so ...

buggy POS - well the russian (crashed with c++ errors) and the german(people bitched that the german translators fucked up and translated files that should not be translated making 3 missions unplayable - wrong briefings ) version where not this one Razz

The game is total garbage. The gfx are mediocre at best, and game runs like total garbage. Why is it so slow if the gfx blow? Compare this game to Rogue Universe, and that game runs perfect with all gfx options on. No excuse. Total crap coding. I mean shit gfx and runs at 8 fps? And I am running it in winxp.

I remember playing the first star wolves, and gfx are pretty much identical except that star wolves ran great.

Runs quite good actually , had to tune the mouse speed a bit ... but I'm getting 250-300 fps in the 2 solar systems I visited so far. Voice acting is horrible but that wont keep me from playing. It feels like homeworld with some RPG elements.

The game runs smoothly here, on a 6600TD with 1 GB RAM and 2.6Ghz Sempron. Getting some 30 fps all the time(measured with the ingame fps counter) Smile
Sometimes it gets sluggish, but after you save, drop to the main menu and reload, the problem is gone. Might be a memory leak of some sort.
I like also that unlike the first SW, you can go anywhere you like. There are some 50 systems to go to, each of them having some advantage, like better weapons in one, while in another better systems or better missiles.
All in all, a fun game. A piece of advice. Save often. It has a tendency to crash right after you did an amazing job fighting those 4-5 alien fighters all by your own(one of them can kill your bas ships's shields in 2 seconds, so that's why i say it's hard to kill on of them bastards).

Buggy game, but a nice gameplay nonethless

Is this a space sim ala X3/SF:RU or a strat ala Homeworld? I keep seeing HW refferences but I thought this was an in cockpit space game. I thought I played the demo but now I am thinking I may be mistaken.
If I am wrong does anyone remember a game about 2 years ago that was in russian and had (from what I recall) close to X3 graphics but was a demo and I thought Wolves was in the title?

I was wondering that as well. Keep getting owned by the aliens and there's nothing better to buy in the trade stations and hiring mercenaries doesn't seem to work at all. Anyone?

You get more wingem as the story goes on and as for the mercenaries. You hire them from a trading station and they will accompany you right away(you can't control them at all, they just follow you). Only thing is they require payment everytime you go to another system,so taking them along trough many systems gets pretty expensive.

And as for getting better equipment, get corsair(character) on your team,he's a pirate and has a black market skill...gets you a LOT better equipment than your regular ones.Smile

from what I heard there are plenty of bugs like this in the original russian (bought version) release so I highly doubt it, but I guess you never know.

Yeah i'm just on the mission where you get Corsair but the battle right after he joins me is very hard. And regarding the mercenaries, I know how you're supposed to do, but they just don't appear. And I don't think any money is deducted when I accept their deals either.
