That is the dream for any mod team though, seeing their mod go retail(ish).
Be happy for them.

Exitium wrote: | The problem, really, is that Valve is charging for DOD - which was a game made by gamers, for gamers, not by a corporation. It really pisses us off to have to pay for a mod, which is supposed to be free, and even if it was free it would undoubtedly help Half Life 2 sell more copies, as people would want to play DOD Source, much like many people bought Half Life years after it came out just to bask in the popularity of CounterStrike.
It's really stupid of them to charge for something like that. |
I may be wrong here - I haven't read every post - but isn't it just that if you pay for the gold edition you get Cs Source + DOD Source "earlier" than everyone else - plus some other useless crap? If I buy the stock standard half life - won't I just then donwload and play CS Sourse and DOD souce like the first one? Won't it just be one key for all games? If so buy the cheapest Half Life2 you can - get key and then donwload Cs Source and DOD source. I'm sure it'll be availavble as with other games very soon.

Whats the best online store for pre-ordering HL2 Collectors Edition, safest and cheapest etc? Here in Sweden the game will prolly come a few weeks later than the U.S and I'm not sure the C.E will even be sold over here...

Half-Life 2 Pre-Load 5
Valve keeps the updates rolling, today releasing the fifth phase of the Half-Life 2 pre-load over Steam. A Steampowered post has the official story:This will allow users to download the Counter-Strike: Source maps in encrypted form. No purchase is required to pre-load Half-Life 2, but is required to activate the game. The moment the game is made available, those who have pre-loaded and purchased the game via Steam will be ready to start playing. The update comes alongside a bugfix for the CS:Source Beta:
Fixed voice comm not working on certain servers
As always, restart your Steam client to get downloading.

ATI Coupon Holders Win Bronze
Following up on the Steam packages we reported yesterday, forum member pinnappe e-mailed Steam technical support about which package ATI coupon holders would be entitled to. Here was the reply:The ATI coupon vouchers will be transfered automatically to the Bronze Package. We will be offering upgrades to silver and gold for additional cost, but the details have not been fully worked out yet.Bronze it is — which means HL2 and CS:Source only. As stated, you can upgrade your package (by most probably paying the price difference). This would seem to suggest that purchasers could upgrade other HL2 Steam packages (e.g. Silver to Gold) but no official word on that yet.

I think it´s strange that DOD:source only comes with silver and gold steam packages and not the Collectors edition.

I don't really care if Valve is charging for DOD: Source. For one it's probably not much and two it's only one mod out of a ton of mods.

"Voodoo Extreme is reporting that a webmaster at VU Games updated the official Half-Life 2 website with the word that the game has gone Gold and will ship on November 23rd in the US and on December 1st in the UK. Meanwhile, the story has been pulled, but Gamers-Depot posted a screen capture of it."

The "screen capture" was all that anyone saw... and that was fake because the URL of the picture was not for the half life 2 site. This was def a fake.. .no doubt about it.
