Some of you may remember an issue I stated with Vista not too long ago. Others actually posted saying they had the same issue. I got tired of searching and posting in forums for a fix and FINALLY found one on my own.
The issue is a weird clicking sound the system makes, as though the computer is turning off, though it is running entirely fine. It sounds like the PS powers down a sec, like when you'd turn off the unit and then it quickly fires back up. It actually turns out its the CPU ramping down in speed. This is an issue with both Intel and AMD CPU's. Mostly dual core.
The solution to the issue is twofold.
Firstly; disable Cool n'Quiet or it's intel equivalent in your BIOS. Then install the drivers for the CPU as well. The moment I installed the drivers I noticed a significant improvement in system performance AS WELL AS the clicking stopped.
Anyway, just thought I would inform everyone of my findings since I was unable to find answers on forums elsewhere.

It's HD powering off and then powering on again... If you don't want that, go to the Power Options, Advanced, and change the settings for the HD turning off.
About CnQ, you could have just set the Power Plan to High Performance, that would have given you the same performance benefit.
