Game play doesnt stink for me. Plays like Freelancer IMHO. I killed the first ships with no peoblem... just trying to figure out key controls.

So far, i like it. I dont think we are able to enable all the graphics in demo because I set everything to max and in game it definitely isnt at max. i think final gam is going to look much nicer than what we see.

To me, seems like Freelancer but with much more depth. And, to me, thats not bad. Not bad at all.

but yeah... if you have a bottom feeder syatem and have to run everything on low, Id imagine it wont look so hot.

It's out in retail now. Yes the US of A got it before everybody else.

Well... they changed the date from ships within 24 hours to available June 5th...

Sux. Was hoping to see this one early. I actually like the demo a lot. Makes me want the full game.

Weird, that whole pixel doubling makes the game look crappy,I mean real crappy. Turning it off makes it look ok.Smile

But man,I'm getting hammered in the first mission, must learn those keys soon.Very Happy
So far,it plays like freelancer, starlancer etc. So it's pretty good,I like it so far.

its super easy, got it on first try. and keys arent that hard to figure out...
graphics are ok too, but i notice it when the game loads the files from hdd... hope they'll do that better in retail (one week to go yay)

what ive seen in 10 mins of gameplay now, it meets my expactions (so far)

"Pixel doubling" and "Filter screen" are for extremely low-end hardware configurations.

Epsilon,
What do you think so far? I really would like to know, I respect your opinion.
I play my sims on a projection screen and use a joystick. (I also am trying the latest shutter glasses because I want to be Lawnmower man. lol) Using Pinnacle I can get the joystick to function but I want to wait till full version- for immersion reasons- and will buy this even if I never play it just because I love space sims and there are not close to enough of them.
PS. You played Parkan II in English yet?

So far... so good. i like it.

But dambn... i WISH they would show the keys when it tells you to hit the "dock button" for example. How hard is it to code something like that to make the game actually display the key that is assigned to said action during the little tutorial windows?
Sigh. Thats aggravating.

Game looks to be big with plenty of stuff to do. Wish it had multiplayer though. I really really do.

Yeah, the first fight wasn't hard, just took some time to get used to it...lol.Smile

And yeah, disabling those low-end hardware configurations helped a lot and after playing it some more,I'm pleased with it,just wish there would be a space sim where you land on a station or a planet there would be NPC's(like in Freelancer and Aquanox[not a SPACE sim I know]) you could talk to. not just a cold screen of trade icons etc.
But I'm still happy with this.Smile

Can't wait for the full game.Razz

Evechron Alliance has actual station and planetary landings... and multiplayer.
But, it's an Indie game so the graphics do their job, but they aren't cutting edge. It does have a kick ass newtonian physics model though.

When playing this one i had some thoughts and here they are :

nice diablo clone game with a space ship ,

you never die only spawn on the last jump gate port but you lose your inventory and 200 exp ,

finally a optimized PC game fought with 14 ships with out any slow downs ,

like it was mentioned this game lacks two important things space station NPCs and a flight tutorial (but when you figure it out that on "Y" is the EMP burst for missile defense , on "Shift" is the afterburner , on "HOME" is the jump gate to safety key , "Enter" is use all , "M" is the mini-map and "Alt" is the map grid , "I" is the inventory and "F" selects your targets - then you are set to have great fun ) ,

this game also misses gate point directions - was a pain in the ass to look for the right gate to get to the Mission 3 ,

the trade system is a chaos , the same with the things you can equip to your ship,

I'm very dissapointed by this demo, on paper the game had everything going for it, but in reality it's just fancy 3d version of Asteroids and not a space sim, sure it got equipment systems, a starmap, diplomacy and a mediocre trading system, but whatever you do you don't feel like your actually part of the world or that your affecting it in anyway.
To top it off the combat system is even worse than that of vanilla Freelancer.
I will play the full version once it gets released and I hope my opinion of the game will change, though I don't believe so.
X3 remains the best singleplayer space sim, Evochron are good as is the other games in that series but they aren't games you can play for hours on end, atleast I can't.

You only fell disappointed because its not a space ship simulator like X3 but a arcade space RPG game like Freelancer with out the NPCs and it only needs a 3 button mouse and 5 keys and not the hole keyboard to fly Razz

game is great if you like freelancer , but the starmap (no jump point map) and the trading system are shit

+1

Anyway, how's the demo with regards to bugs? Don't want to download 800MB just to find a bug-fest.

Somebody mentioned trying the Star Wraith 3D space games while waiting for SF:RU to come out. I am playing Arvoch Conflict and I have to say I am impressed and I will be paying for the full game to support their efforts. For once I am not being a graphic whore and really enjoying the experience.
The thing that drew me to the game was the fact that you can enter planet atmospheres in real time with no cut scenes. I know this is in Evochron Alliance but I haven't got that far in either game yet. I hope it's not dissapointing.
