My computer is ready for a format (havent formatted it for over a year and its starting to slow down alot now) so I have decided to give vista a try.. After looking there seems to be quite a few differetn releases and now I dont know which one to go for...

Right now I managed to get the XP to Vista upgrade direct from the leaked microsoft server links but dont know if this is the best to go with.

I also noticed a nope OEM release but some people are saying this is a stripped down version of vista with only the drivers for hardware that dell etc use.

Or is it best to get a full retail version and patch it with the automated Paradox version 3 crack?

Another quick question, which is better, 32bit or 64bit?? I currently have a AMD64 processor. Does 32bit have a higher software compatability?

Thanks Smile

All i can recommend you is to take an unmodified DVD release, e.g. one from MSDN (en_windows_vista_x86_dvd_X12-34293.iso) or the initial winbeta bundle (with both x86 and x64 versions), then crack it with a separate and up-to-date crack. Yeah 32bit have a higher software compatibility, if you go toward vista x64 ultimate like i have you will only found few 64-bit codecs packs to play your videos in Windows media center for example, less choice for firewall and others apps using drivers, etc, if you don't have over 2Gb of ram it will be somewhat useless to go 64-bit.

Well apparetnly the vista I got direct from microsofts server (the one that comes down in 3 files then you run the exe and it creates a vista folder that you can burn to DVD) is the full Retail version so I will give that one ago tomorrow I think unless I find out that that Info is wrong and its not the full retail..

Also, I have 1gb ram so think I will just stick with 32bit... Im guessing that "86" is the 32bit version???

I am in the same situation.

Is there any benefit in the OEM bios hack over the Timer Stop?

Yes. Timer-stop is unreliable and sometimes stops working. That will get you into paranoid checks every hour or so to see if it's still working. BIOS emulation activates your Vista. Period.

all done and Vista running fine...

I recommend you do a complete fresh XP Format / install if you are planning on using the 3 vista files leaked from Microsoft servers as this install just removes Windows XP and bangs Vista on leaving old program files behind. Other than that, this version works fine Smile

Oh yea and the Automated Paradox crack is brilliant. run the exe and wait a min or 2 and restart pc and its done Very Happy

Instead of making a new thread ill ask my question here:

Is it the same with all vista version that after xx number of points after changing hardware the license drops? Or is there a version that lets you change hardware unlimited of times.

Do these "downloaded" vista versions run ok after cracking it?

Last question, When do a vista install besides XP, so that you got both XP and vista, do you get asked which OS to start up everytime you turn on the comp or can you change that in some kind of setting which to start up as primary OS?

Hope i didnt ask too many stupid questions Very Happy
I'm sceptical getting Vista, but then again i was sceptical about getting XP when it came out...

Overall I have had no problems with Vista... You can setup both XP and Vista but I think you have to choose which one you want to boot at start up each time..
