Of course. And the people who did it should burn. But you seem to assume just because I am debating one point, I am forgetting the other. The media has the unfortunate tendency to make an icon out of certain individuals and blowing cases out of proportion. |

I agree with Jenni here, media coverage on occurances of this nature can only be a positive thing, at the very least people will be more vigilant for a while.
Your point is fucking useless Parallax, first off the majority demograpic doesn't respond to ethnic abductions to the same degree and especially not third world abductions, as they're not something they can relate to. Secondly, it's just not practical to report every crime that occurs, thats a ridiculous notion. Only high profile cases are publicised, it's the same with everything not just crime.
Why not go cry a river about the biased nature of society, because thats what your so called 'point' relates to. It has nothing to do with this particular crime or even abductions in general. It's not something thats going to change soon, why even bother with such an inconsequential argument? We all know the world isn't fair...

Yes they would, it just wouldn't be publicised to the same degree.
I don't know why you keep pushing this, ok we get it, you're liberal. Your point is not limited to crime, it's the nature of the entire media industry.

Absolute Bollocks, if anything they'd get more attention, everytime a black kid is stabbed or shot over here it's front page news and is on the telly for months at a time.

Of course you're exaggerating it to get your point across, but the phenomenon is fairly well known. It's the same everywhere I expect.

Interesting way to look at it.
Maybe you just don't notice when it does happen. I believe it happens in all western like countries. If you don't watch local news you don't really know.
I was wondering if there was something like 'Amber alert'. Amber was a girl who went missing so it is named after her. (for the record she was white and quite pretty) http://www.amberalert.gov/
A while back we (North America) had a child missing and the whole Amber alert system broke down. The missing child report sat on too many desks without action and was never brought to media attention until hrs and hrs after. I don't know if it has changed since then. I haven't seen any alerts myself so. In that case they did find the child. It was a parent abduction , I believe but it proved how unplanned the amber alert system was.
Hopefully it will get better
