I do have a problem when religious people start to influence the government.

believing in "divine beeings" has always been around, ever since we were cavemen and didnt know what caused the wind. Maybe its part of beeing human and realizing your own existence. Either way, we now know what creates the wind and the windgod isnt worshipped anymore.

Humans are getting stronger and stronger. Now we know more than we knoew when we were cavemen, thefore we dont need god anymore.
Saying "religion can help to overcome the obstacle" is flawed, because its like saying "cocain can help to overcome the obstacle". Later on it most likelly will destroy your personality. Thats why I dont tolerate religions like I dont tolerate drugs.

I think you know you're wrong. But anyway, the only concrete quality that religious people can argue religion provides, and only in very few, is ethical principles.
But this is a book I read by the Dalai Lama, which is aimed at applying the best lessons religion can teach without the oppressive bullshit that comes with it.

Any extreme conviction, such as being religious, believing in a god, is based on blind faith, not facts, not smartness.
While atheism on the other hand is based in science, somethings based in hard cold facts. Heck, you wouldn't even be sitting here without science.
I respect normal religious people. But people who have blind faith and are conservatists and/or extremists are just laughable. They are the ones ruining the world today. |

How do you prove that a creature exist, when in fact he has not shown his face anywhere in the universe, has not spoken to anyone? As far as I am concerned, disproving the Bible is proof enough that God does not exist.
In basis religion and atheist might be the same, but in practice it's totally different. I don't base my living rules or morale on a 2000 year old book that preaches all kind of bullshit (and is in fact written by humans and put together by the Church). Don't get me started on the Koran, it is just as bad. |
