Ok, their has been loads of fanboy bullshit around the forum in threads that have nothing to do with 360 vs PS3 so why not keep it all in this thread!
No flamewars please, just try to give objective points and compairisons between the 2 systems.

I don't think you can rule out flamewars in this thread. There's a very small line between the two anyway. Let the bullshittery begin.
BUT PLEASE AVOID TAKING IT TOO PERSONALLY - i.e no racism, etc. The usual rules still somewhat apply.
I will begin by suggesting the GTA4 is going to kick ass on the 360 as
a) the devs have had alot longer to develop on the architecture
b) the devs seem to be demonstrating everything on the xbox
c) xbox is the way forward.
Thoughts?

blu-ray, cell processor, folding@home, no 3 rings of death, no overheating issues, constant updates and improvements as opposed to 2 updates a year. PS3 FTW.
Only reason I have the 360 is because of the firmware hack. As soon as they come out with something for the ps3, and the price of bluray disks and writers go down, I am selling the 360...

Well the exclusives seems to be less and less, but the few that still are, I personally would choose the XO exclusives.
The controller is another thing, where i think XO is the better one.
There is things that has opissed me off lately about the 360 though. The cheap bastards at m$. Why do I have to pay for LIVE and every little downloadable content? I already payed for the console itself, the game, my ISP. In Gears I even host the game myself, and even though the developers didnt want to charge for their map-pack, sure enough I have to pay yet again. Or wait untill fucking September.
There is even a fee to change my gamertag.
The prising for ps3 just feels insane at the moment and as I mentioned the both systems almost have the same games. I dont want a multimedia experience (ok, being able to play div-x on XO would be A O K), I want to play games.

I don't really want to defend either console, but your logic seems to be utterly flawed.
I'll start with the easy one, folding@home its not exactly new, nor is it something that only the PS3 can do.. Its nice that song allowed such a use for the console, but lets face it, its not really a reason to buy the console.
Blu-Ray? Come on! Thats like saying people bought the PSP for the amazing UMD technology  ! Much like every other alternative product sony has created, it has a huge chance of failing. Mini-Disc.. Betamax.. ATRAC.. etc..
Cell processors, powerful? Yes. Over hyped, without a doubt. Lets not forget the hype the emotion engine got before the PS2 was released.
Don't get me wrong, you are right about the 360's problems, it has been a rocky road. But the PS3 currently has far larger issues which don't seem to be any closer to resolution, such as the lack of decent, exclusive games, the crippled backwards compatability and the lack of a full online community.. Still, it has time yet!

The PS3 is nothing more than a Trojen Horse for Bluray. They ruined it trying to win a format war.
Once the chinese HD-DVD players are out, Bluray is done. Bluray is a more expensive medium, with worse quality transfers due to Sony not wanting to use VC-1 for encoding.
Bluray is another Sony pipe dream, and many HD-DVD supporters such as myself have said this time and time again "If bluray win the HD format war, ill stick with upconverting SD DVD, and wait for streaming content"
PS3 is selling pourly, and has not been accepted very well into the industry. Why, becasue people dont like being lied to about specs, and force fed a new disk format that was completely unnessesary, well except to try and win a format war.
Sony TVs still kick ass, my premium and elite look great on them.
The cell is also a pipe dream. Why did sony all of a sudden need to add Nvidia Chipsets, the Cell was supposed to be so powerful, it could handle everything. BS
The PS3 has underperformed vs its counterpart in every aspect, well except for again, trying to win a format war.
Bad lighting, bad framerates, jaggies jaggies everywhere.
And to boot, if i hear one more Sony fantard talk about just wait for MGS4, or DMC4, just wait, just wait, im gonna buy a PS3 just to smash it.
Now the best laugh will be when we finally see Killzone.
And the best part. Bluray is still in beta, all the Sony sheep are going to be left in the cold once Nov 1 rolls around, and your Bluray player, i mean PS3 doesnt support BDA 1.1 (It may, but im ranting here).
But remember, Sony is planning for 10 years...... Drop the Ps3 before the developers do, opps, to late.

dont really post in topics like these but anyway im not a fanboy i go where the games are, and at the moment the games are with the xbox360, but seeing as im more of a rpg/adventure gamer i will probably end up buying a PS3 but ONLY When/If they get chipped/firmwared and get lowered in price.

Look at the fifth element. SD DVD looks better. Check any HD review site, the only reference quality title is casino royal.
And whats hersay about bluray finally being finalized Nov1. Its a fact, cheack any BDA site, or even AVSforums.

Tell you what. I bought an Xbox360 about four months ago, and I'm very happy with it. Why? because iof the games. So far, the ps3 doesn't have the games to make up for it's insanaly inflated price. However, I reckon the ps3 could be a force to be reckoned with in a couple of years, as it's got more potential than the xbox360. IMO.

Agree 100%.. But I think MS has a better idea of how to make the 360 popular, it feels like (and seems like when looking at the PSP and other recent revelations) sony are just forcing crap onto its already hooked users.. Still, the potential is there..

Can anyone tell me if the PS3 version of COD 3 really has as bad a framerate as the reviews are saying?
Also are the framerate issues still there in multiplayer?
Finally, Is the multiplayer scene fairly healthy, many players etc?

Well I can't tell you about multiplayer, but from what I saw of it running on my friends PS3 it not only looks worse then the 360 version but there is also some slowdown. Although it's still completely playable, it's only when there are lots of guys on screen or big explosions, not all the time.
I haven't played the 360 version of COD 3 for a while though, so maybe my opinion is a bit skewed.

Yep, just wondered if the framerate issues carried through into MP because it's doing less?
Played through the 360 version a couple of times so not too bothered about that being worse.
Just that Resistance I'm not getting into online. It seems to play more like Quake, kind of dumb running about where reflexes win the day, not much strategy.
Probably get flamed for that opinion because I haven't played it much, so no offense.

I was going to get a PS3 at launch date, but decided to wait it out to see the feedback, an after i heard about random issue's decided against it, heard so much about slowdown's during gaming, an no, im not a 360 fanboy, i don't own one,

To be fair, that was a first generation port of a second generation 360 game. Even though Resistance isn't the best game ever made, the engine runs flawlessly smooth and looks fantastic.
I prefer using the PS3 for some reason. Probably because it's newer I guess. But if you can only buy one, it has to be 360 really.
Things may be different after this christmas season. Dunno.
