Old news for some, but this is what happens when you don't buy GOOD games people, because trust me, if you like hockey, this game is amazing..

http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6461934525/m/8602070492

Please read, the guys at eastside hm did an outstanding job, and I just installed it again today to play with, and found this link. It made me SO sad.

Please purchase games you actually like and are of quality so more are made in the future.

Of course, still use the 'try' it method all you want, but buy the license if it's good.

Um, Those SI games are bloody terrible, probably the worst research in hockey/football games I've ever seen,

Down the drain they go, No one but a few canadians/north londoners will miss them anyway. I'm Hopefull the atrocious football manager will follow, What with it's 3 year old incorrect database and it's "for kids" tactical system,

And then someone pointed out that the game was being pirated, and was available as a torrent from lots of different pirating sites.

OH NOES ---> ZOMG !!! , the game was pirated and the sales dropped! Hey wait, absofuckinglutely EVERY game gets pirated, some luzer games even benefit from the extra attention ...

Seriously, it's bad when decent companies face financial trouble, but in this case it's just that it is targetting a specific audience (hockey, hmm) at the wrong time. Just the way it is.

EDIT: From GCW I found : SafeDisc v4 [CD-ROM] / eLicense [Online]
Guess paying for commercial protections was a wrong idea after all. Spend your money on the development idiots, don't give them to talentless and boring protectionists, pfff.

I think NHL 2007 and NHL Eastside Hockey manager 2007 are different games.

my opinion is , piracy or not , if its a good game it will sell well .

kind of reminds me of local music "artists" not getting a new contract , blaming mp3 piracy for the low sales , i wrote one of them an email saying "no your music sucks thats why , and if you wondered , i couldnt even find your music online Smile"

The problem with this game was the fact it was e-licensed only.

I don't understand how you can say this game is bad tactically? It is by FAR the best hockey sim out there. Nothing is even close.

It actually uses a 2D Sim engine to sim games.. and if you watch the sim engine, it's amazingly accurate and uses the exact tactics you set out for it. The game had SO much potential to do some incredible things.

Agree with you devastator. Football Manager is anything BUT badly researched. Are you referring by any chance to Championship Manager?

Football Manager has a poor database under scrutiny but it's also the most detailed and the most accurate database of any game despite this. You just can't expect perfection from something so detailed and large in scope. Impossible.

In so far as the competition THERE IS NONE. Nada, zip. ZERO. So any complaints can be thrown in the bin until there is a competitor worthy of the throne. Until then you should be thankful games like Football Manager are commercially successful.

Sorry to hear about the Hockey variant but it is a bit of a niche title from the perspective of a Brit.

The game was never properly cracked, try any of the versions available on the net and see if you can get past six months in a game.

May have been a good game, don't know but I refuse to buy any games with the elicense crap. I did buy Front office football a long time ago and it had elicense and it was such a pain in the a**. I got tired of emailing their tech support (or the 3rd party that supported it) and gave up.

It was cracked, have a few friends in the area that have full working copies.

Definately was a bit of a niche, but the development costs and distrobution costs were very low. They're justification makes sense. It just didn't sell well because of the e-license being cracked (as well as them using e-license). I'm just starting up a new franchise with a fantasy draft to start with. It's unbelievably fun if you're a stat whore.

this game was fun 2 hours then I uninstalled it (and I'm quite a hockey fan)

It's fun to blame piracy when in fact you target a very limited crowd with your game (I'm not talking about hockey fans, I'm talking about hockey fans that love to pass 10 hours a week looking at stats, numbers and storylines..

Yes. It's all about the stat whoring - fact is, they talk about it. The first release of the game did very well. Why wouldn't it the second time round? It was a more in depth, advanced title with the ability to ease off the insane statistical following and dumb it down if you wanted..

I'm not one to bitch about piracy; but the fact is, not paying for anything at all, even if you like the title defeats pretty much the origins of a lot of the piracy. Pay for software that you use and like, pirate it before it to try it out.

If you haven't noticed - the gaming world has changed significantly since the release of even torrents. The simplicity in pirating software and applications has caused many games to be released that are absolute shit. We don't have any of the diamond in the roughs anymore (well, not nearly as many as we used to).

I'd say those of you saying its not worth it to pay for software should probably get into the industry and be laid off because of piracy(trust me, I've been there) before trying to justify that piracy isn't the reason for software sales to go down. Quality PC games are lacking and the console market is being flooded by great developers now because the market is far more lucrative. Think about that the next time you don't pay for any software in over 12 months yet haven't missed a beat in the gaming world.

Sorry to come off as preaching or talking from a soap box, but it infuriates me when I think about the amount of gameplay some of you get without paying for software and it's an issue I feel strongly about.

I understand your point.

It's nice to think that people buy what they like, but fact is most don't trade <Free> for <Cost> for a similar product. Amongst the young who download stuff today I would guess that 95% never buys anything that they actually like unless they really really have too (online games etc.). They are growing up with "free" stuff, they never had too save their money to buy that game they so eagerly wanted, so for them pirating becomes the "normal" and buying stuff "eeww wtf wierdo". So this will only become worse as generations pass unless something drastic happens..

Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.
