It looks interesting an all but I just don't see what's going to keep me coming back personally. I heard a lot about it all being 'procedural' but it looked scripted to me and the interface to interact with it is unnatural. So oh look, there are some spears - wonder what we'll do with those... Maybe they'll make a shelter out of them? Push the rack over spilling them onto the floor? No, they'll pick them up as weapons. Okay, that wasn't utterly predictable was it. Okay that's an obvious one, but it makes sense that everything else is fundamentally the same.

I just don't see the point if it's going to be a tiered RTS with customisation options. It doesn't look all that exciting on the combat front either. What's diplomacy going to be like. Imagine it will be very simple. So then you are left with cultural victories but with no real resonance like the cultural victories in Civilization for example I can't see the attraction there either?

I haven't read anything about the game. I'm sure it'll be a blast when it's finally released. But the video wasn't that great.

go play some fps games then. Its at least a whole new type of game... could be funny to feel like you can do something yourself. Like make your own creatures.

I am somewhat interested in this game. However I don't see why the guys are hyping this game up this early. It reeks of a molyneux early hype treatment which usually ruins his games when they finally make it to market. Wright has delivered in the past but not sure how he can back up such an ambitious project without dissapointing in some aspect.

I just wonder why they can't release the game in parts-kinda like the sims but in a less whorish money-sucking way. I think the space battles are great but I would rather play the game this year and have the later evolutionary stages come in an expansion pack.

Everybody have their right to their opinion, just cos you dont share his you have no right to tell him to stfu. Crawl back under the rock you came out from imo Smile

Personally, I don't mind episodic games - as long as you would only need to pay for the first part Razz

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Nope. With a kid and all the responibilities an adult life brings, I don't have much time for games. With my limited time I prefer to try games that aren't very common. I can play one FPS, and it'll be just like any other FPS I have played, except the textures and levels will be different. Games that try to be different get alot more attention from me.

Also, Bioshock does look interesting, but I never got into System Shock (and yes, I did try playing it) so I'm not sure what the appeal will be. I am looking to try Fallout 3, as again I didn't really like either Fallout games (mostly because I got to them late, and the controls/limits that modern games don't have irritated me). It'll be nice to play a modern Fallout, and not have any prior bias about the game. Kinda like me watching Hannibal Rising without having watched any other Hannibal movie, including Slilence of the Lambs. I look forward to watching that series in order Smile

It's funny, on page 1 or 2 of this topic, in 2006 I think I gave a long rant post about being innovative and using a few console games for comparison. Re-reading what I wrote I did lol a few times, but again in 2007 my original point remains. I'm going to use the 360 as my example here for Round 2 Gears of War introduced me to a very unique way of playing a "shooter" by the way it used cover and how the player interacted with it. I think most people here know, or have heard what I'm talking about so I won't bother with detail. the Advanced Warfighter games use a similar, and more realistic approach to "locking" a character to a set peice of cover and being able to do a variety of moves while behind it. Also, the more cinematic presentation that the 3rd person camera provides is more visually appealing, and entertaining to me personally. While AW was ported to PC, there are strickingly few original PC games that try to do things like what those games have done.

Bear in mind, I grew up before, during, and after the Gaming Boom. Back when every game was new and unique. So I'm kinda spoiled, and biased when is comes to today's current trend with pc games. Spore brings back alot of those previous feeling growing up, seeing what crazy and new things developers are doing with pc hardware. So yeah, I'm pretty bummed out to wait another year, maybe 2, until I get to see it's release. I've waited this long though, so I suppose more won't hurt.

(sorry for the wall of text Sad Sad )

Some people hate TF2 because it looks like a clone of TFC. Those who were around when they were talking about TF2 (hundreds of years ago) remember that it would have been more realistic then what you get now. Sad

http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6083&Itemid=2 Delay to 2009 is not true.

I will also tell you that it's right up [to] the bubble in Q4 [of fiscal ‘08], if not sometime in early fiscal '09, so we don't feel comfortable in forecasting it."

There has yet to be a firm announced released date for Spore. An "early fiscal '09" release means that the game could theoretically launch in spring 2008.

“It’s the same information we said in May. Spore’s progressing and it looks great,” she added.

For anything holy's sake... And you'd think they had gone pretty far when Robin Williams was making his own creature back in... when was that video up? 18th century? And they still have 1 and a half year of devlopment?

I wouldn't be whining if they were working on SimCity 5, but even SimCity was ripped for them to be made into City Life or New York Tycoon or whatever.

And The Sims... What more could they possibly add from now on? They've pretty much got anything a human being does. And then some.
