You bring the argument up Again? A good 720p Divx Rip stomps all over Any DVDRip(480P). Period!!
720P divx or DVD9, and i only download DVD9 i have a Toshiba A1 that does very nice upconversion. And i do my comaparisons on 2 1080p Native TVs (XBR3 and Grand Wega SXRD) and my 720p Projector @106 inches.
@LanceBullet
Are you sure your plasma is only 480P, is it like one of the very first plasmas? IT should atleast be EDTV capable.

It's extremely low compared to the amount of people who use their CCs. Also, Giganews is 100% secure when using a CC with them.

these companies aren't 'supplying access to warez'.

Gig@news here too.
Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

on another forum I frequented before it got shutdown (dvdrs.net), lots of 'mericans were complaining about getting TOS letters from IPs etc ... I think downloading is still downloading right? I think at least though the MPAA/FBI are more concerned with P2P for now ...

news.astraweb for me. I am on pay-by-download plan. Good thing - they don't expire at the end of the month. For $25 got 90GB, 81 GB still unused.... I have unlimited 4400 Kbit/s UP and 4400 Kbit / s DOWN connection.

They are just scare tactics. Perhaps in the US they hold more weight, though.

it's not the point of paying for warez. It's a matter of how easy you like your access, quick and hassle free. Sure private torrent sites are good but chances are their ratio strict. You can't download to your hearts content unless you have a quick upload to get your ratio back into place. If your on a capped connection, you have to worry about wasting your BW on something you end up not wanting as well as part of your ratio. And unless your on a good torrent site, chances are their unreliable. Hoping that material has enough seeds to make the wait worthwhile. Hoping it doesn't have a virus. If your on an FTP however then usually it's limited to the amount of users on it so you won't always find a platoon of material.
Now with that, usenet has more material on it than any public/private torrent site. If you don't mind paying then you won't really see a problem when subscribing, especially when your downloading 500+ gigs a month without a worry, so in the end it pays off for itself. Usenet is also one of the safest ways to download as the goverment can't touch usenet. So for me that's a big plus since I live in the home of the...."free?". MY server offers free SSL encryption on my line as well.
People that bash paying for warez, well their close minded about it. 1) We're safer than any ftp, http, torrent site. 2) What we want is in one convenient spot. 3) fast and convenient.
Theres plenty free trial places to try out, and from what I've seen, people are always skeptical about paying for what they normally never had to. I've let about 5-6 people now use my account to try it and those 5-6 people now own their own subscription.
[edit] I also forgot to mention that most private torrent sites doesn't keep old stuff, only new. Usenet also has a huge archive of old scene releases all the way back from the dos game days with the original nfo and original rars.

My ISP provides usenet access. But it is slow only 2 threads at 1Mbit but it is free. I have tried usenetserver and it does a good job and the retention is good.
