Ok here are something from my 'very' limited game experience.
I'll just say the bad things.. what i don't mention is xcom-like so is good

1) No graphical options, it seems resolution is 1024*768 and you can't change it , are we in 2001 or what ?
there is a .ini file in /data/ but manually changing the value there doesn't seem to do anything

2) No windowed mode . ok resolution is very low.. allow us to play windowed will you ?

3) The tooltips and ufopedia lacks of information. most notably you have the accuracy ( a single number) and the damage of the weapon (which is good) , no mention at all of the different firing modes and how they will affect accuracy. No mention to AP needed for action aswell.
That's not sobad since in the tactical mission you'll see this information but it would have been better to provide the info BEFORE going into combat

4) The tactical combat graphic plain sux. I'm not a graphic wore but when you'll see the soldier run around you know what i mean.

5) No map option in the combat ??? what ?????

6) From the obly 2 mission i did the terrain is just.. wrong . Since you can't see up in the floor to see roof is very hard to understand where there is a house and where the entrance is. maybe for that it just requires a little getting used to but no other similar game feeled so bad.

7) I had a wounded soldier, i can't figure out how to use stimulant on myself.. is this even possible ?

Those are not terrible issue but added up together for me just make the game not so good.
I have hope for new patches and such but i wouldn't hold my breath .....

Just as a comparison i enjoyed Ufo Alien Invasion more hxxp://ufo.myexp.de

Can anyone tell me how I can print out facing pages in Adobe, I can view as facing (booklet) but when it comes to printing it just prints single pages.

Not been playing it all that long myself, but as far as I know they have to be at a certain level of a certain skill and also you have to leave them with enough AP points at the end of turn.
Oh yeh, and you have to be facing the Alien or in line of sight. Confused I Think Confused

old school xcom ufo-enemy unknown fan here...although this game isnt everything i hoped it would be, its got ALOT of the UFO-EU addictiveness-two things i did find strange
adjusting to tho ...being used to a "scout" ship in the early xcom games i expected only like one possibly two aliens...was about 4,and thats after my interceptors tore the craft a new asshole, and the other thing i cant understand...why did the devs give you options to add a load of antialising, but no control over overall screen res-strange
anyways, if you liked the original xcom games you *should* like this

does anyone know what's needed to research plasma weapons? they are still grayed out even though i now fight battleships full of destroyers (with lasers, since they are my best weapon)..

and the game is pretty good. would have preferred a shooting mode switch, so attacks can be fired with one clicks average instead of the constant 3, and some camera control and 3d models instead of soldier sprites, and some kind of production redirect instead of having to assemble interceptors by hand at my homebase to send them off to outposts, but it's still lotsa fun.

I am also am finding this game to be very, very good on the old addiction meter. The no-death thing turned out to be of no worry as the game is even harder now even because of the semi-immortal troops and restricted recruiting, sometimes finding your self fairly helpless as most of your better commandos are hospitalised. The line off site, opportunity fire and alien AI seem to work near flawlessly the virceles side of it is done well with the destruction of your tank results in the death of the operator. You know it's good when you just want one-more-go even though it's 4am and your wasted at your keyboard. I will be buying this as I think the developers fully deserve it after 7 years work on a game that is worth every penny.

You can change resolution by manually editing ini in
\%installdir%\data\ufo-et.ini

You can also alter things like scrolling speed, tooltips popup and doubleclick delay there.

It's known you can also use widescreen resolutions and game will work to a degree but will crash soon when moving around items in inventory or something like that.

Hmmm, this is basically just an updated version of the original X-com, it's quite fun though. Very Happy

Russia has NO *professional* pirates (aka scenemembers), Russia has only LAME LAM0S, which called 'pirates' by public...but they are just a lam0s...

Yep, Its interesting whats up with huge size in RiTUEL rel? Are they ripped RUSLNG or smth? Who has RiTUEL version - please, be more verbose!

RiTUEL is unpacking to 15 gigs, and RUS clone - only 2.5 - how its possible? Can anyone complain this???

I have the Russian release, and I seriously don't know how RiTUEL has managed to bloat the size so much. Seriously, don't get that release. In the end, I guess it just saves you from navigating the installer in Russian (which is extremely easy given the release's instructions).

Well, it seems the "LAME LAM0S" did it better this time. But who's RiTUEL anyway? Razz

I've only encountered 3 species so far, two from scout ships and the third when they launched a mass attack on my base!

I think you're right though, the original is better, but this is still a nice distraction.
