I just installed windows xp off old disc with downloaded Service pack 2.

But I cant connect to the internet.

I look in Device manager and "NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller" is not there in Network adapters? "1394 Net Adapter" I did install of nForce6.86 but no help. Plugged in ethernet cable glows green and router works because im using it on this comp im typing from

Device manager also says the yellow ?/! on "other devices" if this has something to do with it:
Other PCI Bridge Device
PCI Device
PCI Simple Communications Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Unknown device

This same day the computer and internet worked with Vista (before I format because I wanted xp)

Any ideas would be muchly appreciated. Confused

You should have gotten a driver disk with your MB. XP doesn't have drivers for the nvidia network.

You should be able to get the drivers at HP, as far as i know most HP'S and dells store all their software on the hard drive, a separate partition to reinstall the OS and such, unless you purchased the software, it's been a long while , i usually only work on self built rigs, hope this helps, i have an nforce board my self, but that's self built in my Sig, and xp sp2 doesn't support them either....good luck
