With all the screens out there you can pretty much go through the whole game w/o playing it. Even the trailers for the game. Heh. Worthless

I´m fuckin tired of all valve delays... Not one single half-life title was launched at the first release date announced by them. They said that they would launch a new episode every six months, and that would make sense, but it seems that we have to wait one year or more for more 4/5 hours of play. Sad

Wasn't the purpose of those stupid episodic content to have them released every few months? At times Valve just seem too lazy to work on their products. They have like one work hour a week.

I really think they postpone EP2 because they are still working on Team Fortress 2 and Portal which will be selled together in one single box. ("Orange Box" or so..). So I think EP2 is already finished but they can't move their lame asses to get TF2 ready.

Why not release EP2 then and ship the other 2 later? Valve just can't stick to timelines... The games are good, but you are better off not waiting for anything, just take what is available...

New Preview:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/halflife2episode2/news.html?sid=6169501

Quote:

EJ: There will be a new vehicle in Episode Two. The buggy from Half-Life 2 was built by a group of rebels that was clearly skilled at welding together a tube frame but was a bit lacking in the horsepower department. In this episode you'll be driving a car built by someone with a lot of knowledge of older American hot rods.

Well, new in terms that HL2 has been in the stone age with their precompiled lightmap system for ages. Laughing

Well, they don't target high end setups but the majority of steam setups. At least they can see what setups their users have.

Pfft, surprise surprise!

Valve has gotten so lazy these days... This 'new' lightning system, special shaders and texture rendering they intend to incorporate in EP2 have been ready for very long time (in the engine level).

oh well, while valve are wasting their time, other developers are getting ahead.
this'll probably come out about the same time as Crysis.

I'm sure loads of people will buy this addon, simply because it's half-life and it's going to be a good game for sure, and everyone wants to know how the story continues, but I seriously doubt it's gonna impress anyone and after playing through it once noones gonna touch it anymore, just like Episode 1.

Despite the short length of EP1, I have yet to play through it because of the tedious ping pong you have to do with the gravity gun. Garry's mod rocks, though.

You do know that the last delay was due to EA pressuring them to delay, so a PS3 port of the source engine is made? I'm saying that Valve are lazy because during that hiatus, they could have made some content instead of sitting on their hands doing nothing.

The return of the coupon?

Last paragraph, states we might see the same policy we saw with 9800XT and the half-life 2 coupon.

The source engines graphic is just 900 times better than all engines imho.

Doom 3, F.E.A.R, Far Cry and all thoose games, they look pretty good but they dont look realistic? Source beats all thoose engines, it looks more realistic, like the real world.

Yeah, sure... ZOMG Dark Messiah looks so very realistic... ZOMG! Sad

Engine has nothing to do with game looking realistic. Artistic content does. Have realistic art and game will looks as realistic as possible with the most advanced engine. Have insanely sci-fi art and game will look like nothing realistic.
