My current one does it even faster...
Why do you even argue with me? If it doesn't run faster for you, than don't run it. |

i've got a XPS Notebook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 Ghz, 2GB RAM, 512 Geforce 7950GTX, a 7200 rpm hdd; running vista was considerably slower than xp at startup. after it loads, all programs runs faster...
the main problem is that they arent still any drivers for the nvidia hardware, among other hardware.
disgusting was the "block system apps" that vista automaticaly discriminate what app blocks at startup. is so buggy that it even block windows components like the "gadgets".
STALKER ran like shit on vista (on xp, same computer, runs smooth)
Civ 4 got graphics glitches.
test drive unlimited played smooth and ok...
that fucking confirmation system in vista really sucks. toataly and completely useless...

Thankfully I ditched my 7900GT, with it's shitty drivers and bought myself an x1950xtx. Funny thing is, games actually run extremely well now, Stalker included.
Intel C2D 6400, 4GB GeiL DDR2 6400, Gigabyte 965P-DQ6, 4 x 320GB Barracudas, X1950XT-X 512MB, 32" Mirai LCD TV, Thermaltake Tai Chi Chasis, Vista Enterprise x64

real funny bit here about Vista. i had a 6800GT and 1gb of mismatched ram 2x512 and my rating was 4.3
then i got a 7600GS and 2gb of corsair XMS 2x1gb and my rating was 3.6
LOL WTF????? yea...go vista, i still have no explanation for this one.
sad ad thing about vista is its labled the gaming OS but sucks bigtime for games atm. until thats fixed, i have no desire to try vista for a 3rd time.

6800 > 7600... One is 256bit card, the other 128bit.

Noticed that as well, Takes longer to start than XP but it runs a little better than XP once started. Considering the amount of RAM I have I'm sure this could be improved with more RAM.

Down to personal preference i guess at the end of the day. peronsally as i said i used vista and i loved it. it did actually run faster than my XP on MOST things. i dont play games so i cant comment. however on saying that, i am waiting for a while before totally moving over, i think thats recommended for any OS dont forget XP was SHIT when it first got released. if it wasnt then why have updates and patches for the 769375849478573 security flaws.
End if the day it is literally down to personal preference people shouldnt be flamed for choosing or not choosing to use a particular OS.

I tried Vi$ta on my notebook and i could not run my fav games, and some software wont work properly (slow)...untill micro$ucks decides to somehow make their new fancy whore of an operating system work (backwards compatible) both with all games and software that can be used on XP, including file system compatibility. I will not be donating anymore money to billys bank account.

That's what I was expecting, lol. How is it MS' fault that there is lack of drivers? I'd say it's nVidia's and AMD's fault.

Actually Leo, It's Microsofts fault for several reasons:
1. Microsoft changed the way drivers access hardware and thus pushing driver development into a hole - SEE CREATIVES LETTER TO MICROSOFT.
2. Microsoft was in a constant state of flux (don't even) while developing the OS and the specifics were changing pretty constantly (though it isn't uncommon to do this in software development, when you're developing an operating system, you need to bang out the foundations which Microsoft did NOT do with their driver support)
and of course 3
Microsoft has yet to admit it is causing anyone trouble in driver usage or application compatibility on a large scale. They will not do this because it lower sales.
I run Vista at home and support it at work, and I honestly don't think it's a bad OS, but your fanboism is just too much for me to swallow. There are faults in every single OS and Vista's major fault is driver and application compatibility.

You can turn the confirmation stuff off.
Start > msconfig > Tools > Disable UAC - Reboot
No more questions about every click you make.
