i hope we have another ufo defence type game! one of the best i've played, from old microprose. could be quite fun if you add to that concept, modern graphix.

it's pretty much like Ufo: Aftermath and Ufo: Aftershock. I'm pretty sure this will also not come close to the originals.

it's nothing like those 2. This one is a TBS for starters. The base management and the combat is almost identical to UFO. So, you have bases in wich you can build whatever you want, TBS combat, strategy screen intercepts...How is this like the Afterseries?

Been watching the progress of UFO ET for a while now and it looks very good, seems to hold to the original quite well, right down to the 'none spinning silly arch granade throw'.
Anyway, seems like the devs are real lovers of Xcom with this being their pet project, that my dear fellow is a good sign.

This is to the X-com series what C&C 3 is to the C&C series; a rerun/reproduction of it's golden age.
If you expect it to be revolutionary you will be dissapointed, if you expect the old x-com enemy unknown then you won't be, but I already have that on 4 floppy's Twisted Evil

Nope m8, it will not be the CnC3 of the UFO genre. CnC3 is a huge step visually compared to the last CnC game. The game itself might be the same as CnC1, but they've at least updated the graphics. I don't see how UFO:ET improves the XCOM games in any way. It is just a mix of the first three XCOM games, with elements picked up from those games. They created a new tech tree for it, and added a few new items, vehicles and stuff.

Whoa.. thats a revolutionary step for the genre.. It will bring the turn based strategy gaming to a whole new level.

I hope for those who love this game, that i will be proven wrong. Then again, i have this unpleasant feeling inside of me, which usually signals that something bad is about to be released.

If you compare CnC3 to Generals, the difference is not that huge. But it should really only be compared to the last game using the engine, ie. LOTR BFME2. In that regards, the difference is miniscule at best.

So it has better visuals, but the gameplay is the _exact_ same as CnC'95. After playing Supreme Commander, CnC3 just sucks, even if it has a better single player campaign.

My feeling are the same for this X-Com game.

Get X-Com
and http://dosbox.sourceforge.net
Fun for a long time if you've never played it, while your playing you can download Ufo: Afterlight which 'is' a step forward despite many loud conservative voices claiming otherwise.

real time air combat on the geo, smaller ufo escorts for bigger ufos, and ufos attacking your interceptors and transports instead of just reacting to your attacks is a tremendous improvement upon the originals, imo.

As long as this game is completely turn-based and not that awful real-time crap the After***** games use, I'll be happy to give it a chance and I don't care if it's just an updated version of the X-Com games.

Yeah but matrix games have done that before, changing dates in the last moment is what they get off on.

1 may release date was announced 11/12 IV - they didnt changed it at that date - instead they put 15 - yesterday

i saw topic on forum where someone askfor possiblity downloadading the game before DVD coume out and matrix staff replied - taht it is possible.

According to developers game is completed - it could bereleased in digi format (no nned to manufacture print manual etc ) and current delay is caused by new developer taht need time to manufacture shipmment DVD's

anyway i cant find ufo ET in matrix store ;/
