Yes, I've read the book and the main issue I have about the film is that.... it's absolutely identical to the book. I mean usually a director adds something of his own (see The Prestige etc.) and in Perfume Tykwer added absolutely nothing. I guess he was too 'afraid' to spoil the masterpiece. As a result we have a book that've become alive and not someone's unque view on it. Which may still be considered as a good approach by some.

p.s. I liked both the book and the movie but I prefer the book

Oh right, hmmm not sure how i feel about that then i guess in some ways i would be one of the people that considered it a good approach as if the film was changed it would have lost its artistic beauty, although i havent read it yet obviously, however "identical" is probably a bit much i thinbk that the director should have had his own input too.....maybe it wasnt that he was afraid but felt that he could not and would not try to outdo the book by adding anything?!

Just saw children of men last night, and alpha dog the night before, both really suprising movies, both were well done..

Alpha Dog 8.5/10 i was putting it off for awhile because of timberlake, but to be completely honost i think he was perfect in this, ill be looking foward to seeing his others now.

Children of men 10/10 Beautiful, i went into this movie not knowing what to expect at all, i had no idea what the story was about, never read the book, nothing, great movie all the way through.

Dunno if it's being screened out of Israel.

9/10. -1 point for making me sad Sad Apparently an Acting class teacher in my school played in this movie as the one who blew the place up.

Question Am I caught in the twilight zone or something? Rolling Eyes

Anyway saw 300 yesterday. 3/5

After seeing the trailer and looking forward to watching this movie, overall it was a disapointment. Felt like alot of potential was wasted. The 300 looked like a gay parade btw, they should have had rainbow shields instead which would add even more to the already existing comedy effect based on the mind blowing dialogue.

The awesome blood splatters in slowmo raises my grade from 2 to 3.

300 = 5/10, 5 for cinematography and FX. 0 for G.W.Bush/Leonidas, persians/Iran and all the pre-Iran-invasion propaganda crap including terrorist masks. Pathetic.

Yer, all taken directly from a comic first published in 1998. Sheesh. Rolling Eyes

Its like in Finding Nemo when he has to swim through the Jellyfish, its like running a gauntlet through Kabul.

Its a direct adaption... And to let political agendas come inbetween such things is just idiotic. Zack Snyder wanted to make a direct adaption off the comic just as rodriquez did two years ago with Sin City, so he started just after The Dawn remake (which didnt have a political agenda whatsoever!) Just see the movie and reject the similarities.

You are aware that its a movie and not propaganda...right?

Edit: If you search long enough you can turn anything into propaganda...so its just silly to whine about 300 imo. And btw, its an excellent movie Smile

Alright, alright. As you wish. It's just a visual masterpiece without any propaganda on subconscsious level. Sure, why not. A mere coincidence.
