I think you can hotswap with another SATA DVD drive or something, Useless for me since I don't have one.

I just did my Xbox 360 with an MS28 drive - My interface card was a Rosewill VIA 6421 with external ports (purchased from "New Egg" here in the states. The "Bad Flash recovery" method worked great. It's read all the backups I've thrown at it just fine.
The only hairy thing was finding a way to boot my HTPC to DOS (no floppy, and none of the USB flash drives I had were able to boot successfully, even though I tried several models and several methods). I ended up booting via CD with the files on the USB key. Just followed directions and it worked great.
Personally, I think the MS28 is Microsoft's undoing. They can't read the firmware directly from the Xbox 360, so they'll never be able to tell if you have a hacked Xbox via Live. If they can't test one drive, they'll probably not bother with the others, either.

samhack is sweet imho. mtkflash needs you to boot into windows and stuff. samhack inputs key and all that for you...

I heard that there had been problems with samhack/read bricking drives, So it sort of put me off. But if you've not had problems with it, then i'll prob just use that instead.

Bump, Got the correct SATA card today.
Do I need to disconnect my main hard drive or can I just leave it connected? As I'm ready to flash it just now expect I've not disconnected the HD (cant be bothered too tongue.gif )
Also can I use the SATA connection from the backplate on my VIA card as I can't access any of the others due to my case.

If you are going to flash a MS28 drive I'd recommend you to read this guide:
http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/details/id=61.html
You will need to use /sata with samhack in order to make it work, you also gotta turn off/on the drive. just download the guide above and follow it.

Done that, Used /sata command still get the same old "No drive detected" I'm going to try using the connectivity kit, See if that makes a difference.
