I think because most people have better things to spend their money on. For the average person, or even average gamer, one console is enough. Some people would buy the Wii and one of the other next gen consoles because they offer something different. But owning a PS3 and 360 is rather sad in my opinion.

It's not the same as spending alot on a PC, because they're not only used for gaming.

No problem Animal Mother, I'll enjoy being sad with my consoles ..... And while we make generalisations about what people call sad. In my opinion people with a post count of over 8,000 on a forum, people who not only like an old sci-fi cult/crap classic but has 1 of the saddest/nerdiest members of the cast as an avy I think is very sad. But I'm sure that's just a stupid stereotype right. You're not like that at all, right !!

I've been visiting this website for ages, thats why my post count is so high. I probably don't post any more then you per day. As for the Red Dwarf thing, it's not like I spend every day rewatching DVD's of the old episodes, and the character as my avatar was defined by his nerdiness, thats the whole humourous aspect dumbass.

It still a far cry from prioritizing my money on games consoles. I could buy all three if I wanted, but as I said I have better things to spend my money on.

I'm hardly prioritizing my money on games consoles, I only have the 360 at the moment, I was just pointing out that sweeping genrealisations that owning all 3 consoles is rather sad is like saying people with 8,000 post counts and who like Sci-Fi cult classics are geeks. I'm sure they're all not, and neither are you, but that's the problem when you make sweeping generalisations ..

If we were paying for the games I can understand owning all 3 consoles could be deemed a little obsessive and sad, but when you buy something that will last 5 years and you don't have to pay anything ever again, it's kinda worth it. I'll buy the Wii and at the moment I only want to play one game for it ......

As for having better things to spend your money on, tell me what things you want, maybe it'll give me ideas and I won't be sad and own all 3 consoles, and this is a serious question .... I'm kinda bored and don't know what to buy

Most of the stuff I spend my money on isn't really material. That is, I spend it on experiences like going to restaurants, concerts, festivals, holidays, activity trips, nights out...that kind of thing. Plus a girlfriend isn't cheap. Wink

Materially I have pretty much everything I want, i'm not really the type of person who cares much for flashy expensive things. The type of people who do have the tendancy to never be satisfied, because they always want the next best thing.

Remember it's my opinion owning all 3 consoles is rather sad, that doesn't make it so. There are probably many people who own all three but arn't. It just tells me certain things about that person is all.

Lets be clear though, I am in no way loaded. Maybe if I was I would think differently about financial priorities.

Imho I don't really care if someone has all three or just one. I just think it's smarter to wait a little with purchasing a PS3, why? To buy it when it's cheaper and has more games on stock. Yeah lots of exclusives coming out for it but right now the xbox 360 is enough for me and the next console I'm gonna get is a Wii because I believe price for that's gonna drop soon too and by then they'll have some cool games released. Right now it's just a party console in my eyes.

If the PS3 offered something substantially better in terms of capability then there might be an excuse for such a late arrival, and a reason to get one. Why are you defending sony Parallax?

Why, is there something wrong with that?

The PS3 is still a launch console, and yes, it ain't that great yet - because like the 360 it needs a bit of time to mature. And honestly, I like Sony's open standard approach more than Microsoft's proprietary format bullshit.

ps3 is a launch console today because sony delayed it a full year, not to add any features per se, but to ramp up production of the br laser (to make it cheaper) and to improve its copy protection. The gpu in the ps3 is arguably a half a gen BEHIND the 360's.

Normally i would cut a "launch" console a break, but sony dug its own hole. Every "launch" console ive ever bought brought with it a unique game experience, whether it was exclusive games or 3rd party titles that had the best graphics. In the case of the wii was a unique control scheme. The ps3 offers nothing unique, nothing improved with what was on the market. I sat there on launch day, about to head out early to camp, when i realized what i was going to do with a ps3 when i got home... stop playing GearsOW so i can play rfom? Buy 3rd party crap with the same graphics as the 360... I finally bought one for blueray movies, but its hardly justified its purchase so far.
