Just switched to Vista Premium. I had some teething problems with drivers. But it runs fine now and my hardware can cope with the extra resources Vista requires when running games. To be honest though atm Vista just feels like an advanced windows blinds skin.

Mostly Vista, reason is, if it plays on Vista, it plays and looks better than XP. Try X3, SH4 or supreme commander, you will see what I mean.

Yeah...I've tried all of the them and they look exactly the same on a ASUS 7900GT\TOP. The only difference is it runs slower and for games like Company of Heroes I experience crashes from time to time.
Tried Vista uninstalled it after the low fps in Stalker(with 2Gigs of RAM btw) reinstalled XP SP2 and went wow!!! when I saw the difference in fps. Every damn game runs at about twice the speed in XP compared with Vista.
Until they fix the driver problems and the OS matures a little I won't go back to using Vista. The only thing that makes Vista good at the moment is the eye candy that went in the user interface.
If MS made Vista only for DX10 graphics cards then I'll continue to stick to Vista...Many features from DX9 haven't been exhausted so I think the "let's buy a DX10 card to play Crysis this summer" is bullshit. U think Sony and MS made a lot of money from the XBOX360 and PS3...think again. The PC hardware and software makers go beyond the call of duty to screw our asses.

Yes and yes. If the drive is clean, make sure you install XP first and then Vista, not vice versa. It's no more complicated than before and the only difference you'll notice when you're done is that Vista has a new boot menu and has done away with the old boot.ini way of doing things.

Thanks - think i am going to give it a go then.

I am currently using Windows XP, it runs just fine and I don't see any reason to upgrade, because I heard loads of people complaining about drivers and compatability problems.

Gaming on Vista made simple for me:

2GB Flash drive used as RAM memory for vista , and 2GB Corsair RAM inside my Tower for gaming.

XP here, I was using windows 98 till the end of XP Pro SP1 then when I switched over had a great transition. Vista has no point for me to move untill they get drivers fixed and the DX10 games start comming in. And even then if I remember right, Crysis supports DX9, so I'll be good till vista gets patched quite a few times.

i think crysis has a DX9 compatibility....not 100% sure tho,but they arent going to make it DX10 ONLY...unless they are getting backhanded money from Bill and Co.

you wont get all the looks (and probable fuck ups,if vista is anything to go by) of using something brand new from microsoft
