Well i quit running server now Smile it seems it isnt working 100% ok for now... looks like if someone joines with a fucked up client ...like cracked .exe or something he/she crashes the server.. and that is pretty fucked.
I want to say to player Buppa or something.. you're client is fucked so please check this Smile.

On my PDA it says talk to professer Kruglov but everytime I do a beeline to him he is dead
Tried 3 times dead all three
How do I get to him alive or is he suppose to be killed
Even minimap still points to him

Problem solved, came at him thru railroad tracks( backdoored him)

the problem could be that he clicked on button "next" and not on "spectate". we all clicked to spectate
I think that was the matter

PatchFX was not working for me, the patch exe failed, maybe it was the size.
Anyhow, made my own patch executable with .Net 2.0, so you might need the .Net Framework, but at least this time it's just a small exe and not a par2 anymore Wink

What it does:
Accuracy 10x
Recoil 1/2
Damage 2x

It think the damage might be a little too much, please let me know what you think if you try it.
I can't use multiplayer directly as template since players are simply weaker (less health) then most AI characters.

Nice bud... Did you use any Tool for the game, or just yourself made ???...I myself have edited a file for Monsters to spawn almost all the time...he he... The problem with that is the normal Stalkers having problems with surviving...LOL...Need to try and fix that...Accuracy and Recoil is a good fix, but I personally would like a Normal Damage if you can fix that my friend Smile... I just love emptying my Mag in someone or something...he he...Thanks...

Thanks man, much better than the previous effort. I played for an hour or so, I had forgotten how fun it is to aim at someone perfectly in your ironsights and actually kill the bastard! I like the damage as well.

The russians seems to have created a tool to unpack the .Dbx archives. Very Happy

Those are from User.ltx but can also be used in the console, controls the visibility distance and the above values are the maximum the game supports, any higher and the game restores them to the default. Smile

THE S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow Of Chernobyl (c) THQ *MULTIPLAYER TOOL 0.4B* works when your connected to people on hamachi, so you can play on LAN. whoever creates stalker server uses their hamachi name, who is joining must enter that names ip into the tool, enter player name and join.

Raven737, thank you very much for your little accuracy mod.

However, i'm a little conflicted. Am I just dogging the game because I suck, or is this something similar to what could be patched in the first retail patch..... sort of like how patches in Farcry, altered gameplay. Energy depletion when running.... stuff like that.

To everyone else, would you consider this mod cheating, or making the game better?

For me, I think it's better, but I feel that i'm cheating, when I can take out snipers with my AK when the enemies are mere blurs in the distance. They've got scopes and I don't, but i'm hitting them. Then again, if you stick the iron sight right on your target... it's where the bullet is going to go.

Any thoughts to go with this?



edit: after a longer play, I feel that the damage is far too much. I'm having enemies drop at 2 pistol shots at very long range, and pretty much one rifle shot to the stomach or chest (I guess it's more realistic).

What i'm missing, is that whole "fuck, only 1/4 of my energy left and no food" feeling of having to skulk around and try to avoid people. I'm finding that I don't even need to lean around corners. just jump out and spray and pray.

I love your mod, and due the lack of skills in this game (aiming getting better, for example), something like this is sorely needed. I'm just feeling that some of the lesser elements of the game have been eliminated completely.

Maybe a 3/4 damage, rather than half, and the 10x accuracy seems to have completely eliminated bullet travel which has turned it into a counter strike-esque FPS.

Complaints aside, you've brought fun that wasn't there before....to this game (yes it was fun to begin with, but this is a new type of fun).

so thanks again, and sorry for sounding like an ungrateful person.


2nd edit: after a long go with your 2nd release (the .net 2.0 patch), things are much more balanced, while still being fun. I'm missing some shots and it's still panicky to have crap all energy left and know there are 2 zombified enemies nearby..

I don't consider this cheating, simply because it increases accuracy and damage and reduces recoil for EVERYONE. I modded the weapon stats, so enemy will hit you more often as well and when they do you will be hurt more.

Also, i could have, but didn't, change the bullet speeds and range. Most distances in the game are not really that far (due to fog/visibility), and bullets really do travel fast Wink
I did also increase the impulse power (only the visible physics impact, not damage). I think i will remove this since it didn't seem necessary.

I wouldn't feel bad about dropping a sniper at any in game possible range with an AK. I didn't modify the recoil much so it means you used controlled one or two round bursts. In real life they would have probably hit too. The problem is rather that the AI Sniper is MISSING, not that you are hitting. This is because an AI player (even on hardest difficulty) only has at most a 50% chance to hit you (for every shoot that would have hit, you get 50% or better chance it will still 'magically' miss, this varies from difficulty to difficulty, but with added accuracy you are still more likely to be hit then before, of course).
But i guess i could decrease that magic protection as well.

Again, the weak accuracy of weapons and the AI removes the focus from the 'shooting' part to the 'survive and upgrade' part, so you have to sneak around and use tricks/upgrades to get further. With this mod you still can still do this of course, but at least you have a realistic shooting option as well. Of course if this tempts you too much to use the shooting part all the time, i guess the reduction of the power, or at least the keeping it the same, would fix that since with the weight limit you are very restricted on the ammunition you are allowed to carry and this will of course stop you from using the 'shooting option' too much Wink

I think a game is supposed to be fun for whoever bought it and sometimes for some people modifications are more fun then the original (original counter-strike, desert combat?). I don't think anything else but how much fun you have matters.
For me any 'annoying' part of a game is the worst fun detractor, and aiming perfectly, yet still missing, is, for me, annoying.

So the modding preferences apparently differs greatly from person to person.
---> I will try to make a small app. that lets you choose what options with what factors you want, so everyone can quickly mod the game just the way they like.
