That video was laughable. The game needs some serious patching/modding. Some people like it, but others, myself included, just find it unplayable. I want my weapons to kill, cause that's what weapons do I've heard enough about the so-called "armor" of the enemies, that's retarded.
I wish the combat mechanics were just a little like far cry.
BTW,I remember reading that you had to bandage yourself when hurt and all that bs, isn't that right? Did they mean double-clicking a fucking medikit in the inventory to instantly restore your health? Ah,ok then ... |
Also I'd like to add that technically, the game is great on my rig (A64 3000+,2 gig ram,7800gtx,xp sp2)
Most options are on high (full lighting ofc), except exotic ones like sun and grass shadows etc. Runs great, but I have played only for 1 hour, just harassing the hostile guys near the starting camp. (btw why the FUCK are they shooting at me,lol)
EDIT: Unlike others, I really like the graphics.

Dude you heal like that in every other game, how do you like to be healed? This isnt Operation flashpoint where you gotta crawl to the med station, its an arcadish shooter. Yes, pretty often you going to bleed, you use the bandage to stop it, it restores very little amount of health, you going to need about 30 of them to fully restore your health, so they are only good for stopping the bleeding. And as it been said gazilion times, the game has its own balistics, it is not far cry, it is not CS, it is not BF, its stalker. In those games bullets fly in a straight line, in real life they do not. Take Vintorez in Stalker and shoot, and see how the bullet is affected by gravity, and that is what they do in real life. (Im saying Vintorez only because its the only rifle where the trajectory of the bullet can be seen)

I had imagined the use of bandages a little more cinematic. You know, maybe crawl somewhere safe and bandage yourself (animation playing for 5-6 seconds, you prey you're not blown to pieces) but anyway.
As for the combat system, my problem is not the accuracy of the weapons, it's the damage they (don't) deal when they actually hit. The Far Cry comparison was stupid. I changed my mind: I would like the aiming and damage like it is in Operation Flashpoint, lol
But you're right this is not Far Cry,this is not OFP, this is stalker... can't wait to see the changelog for the 1.1 update ,lol

For those on widescreen monitors here is a temporary work-around until a patch(one hopes) corrects the fucked-up FOV problem:

Lol you expected a little bit too much. But if you play at veteran and above you going to have to hide, as enemy will shred you to peices.
I do agree it is bs just how much they can take into the chest, but i deal with it because, wel,l they do have futuristic (at least looking) armor. But HS does kill them, one bullet is enough. Even towards the end, monolith dudes who seem to be wearing full body armor (even the face is covered), go down with one shot to the head. So its not big of a problem, because i always go for the head.

Anyone duel booting XP/Vista? Is there a huge performance difference? As soon as I go in a tunnel or any of those spooky dark sections the game crawls, and this is with a 8800GTX + Vista.

Now that the official forums are up here's the link to the damage mod I mentioned earlier, haven't tested it myself though:

Oh and from what I understand about that specific ending you are supposed to...
Spoiler: |
Escape the zone via those teleporter pads you see, kinda funny but there's probably some logic behind it.
|
Regarding Strelok you should have listened to the cutscenes and what it said at the ending...
Spoiler: |
You ARE Strelok, the pda order was a critical mistake by the C-Consciousness.

Spoiler: | LOL wtf, how did i forget that, you are right, the dude said that you were supposed to kill yourself, because of some mistake. The thing is, after you dont agree to join C-thingy and being teleported out, my PDA still had the mission to kill Sterlok, so i got confused. PRobably just a bug. |

Does anyone know why the game requirements include "10 GB available hard drive space"
while the game folder takes up 5.5 gb?
EDIT: BTW,Vista are unsupported, lol

Yea i would like to see something like this also.
I played a game called action quake II in the past. and there you cant shoot for something like 15 sec when you bandage. Would be perfect in this game.

Not really, you could try to talk to the various Stalkers and see if they offer something in terms of quests and rewards but it's usually just a small job to get extra cash and slightly better reputation though sometimes you do get some interesting items for completing them.
Exploring the various levels is also recommended though most of the item stashes are usually empty untill they gets marked on your map from information taken from fallen enemies but there are a few interesting things to see and the maps are quite large.
The main objectives wich you are currently doing is also a good way to increase the amount of money you have and to get better equipment but the main reason would be to understand and advance the story and unlock more areas for the player to explore.

On the other hand... in AQ2 you could jump like a frog and "slide-jump" to gain better speed and jump across other buildings, etc... (yes, I loved AQ2 but the point you're making is totally flawed)

Yes, they have better accuracy than you.

They should redesign the weapon system and make it like it was in Deus Ex.

Is this game a horror game where a mutant just jumps out of nowhere and screams the shit out of you, or is it a shooter with just a bit horror but no scary sequences?

its a mixture of scary/jumpy if you ask me. Great game.
However im stuck. Ive just spoke to er.. Lustav or whatever his name is in Freedom base. I ratted on the Duty guys hiding out in the barns cos they pissed me off. Shot them all to hell with Freedom, then got another mission about some guy gcalled Pilav? ratting on Freedom and they said follow him to the guy hes ratting to. Well aparently he "just left" and i have to catch up, however i cant find the mofo anywhere and this mission doesnt show up on the task sheet on the PDA, WTF?
