with the above posts, im assuming that DX9 is default and DX8 would be forced.
In other words the game always runs at DX9 unless you do this, and not like call of duty 2 where you could switch between them.

OK, After playing the game with a Hacked version I made Ive come to the conclusion...
This game is fucking FUN damnit...

1. I hacked so their is over 60 monsters per Zone and upt to 128 in some places...
2. Ton of stalkers kicking your ass...
3. Weapons have double the Mag Size... Just cause...
4. Weapons weigh nothing... 0 to the BackPack (Inventory)...
5. Bullet speeds incresed...he he...
6. Fiddled with alot of other small thingy's, cant remember...

All in all the game turned out to be awesome fun with tons of people, monster wanting your ass for breakfast...he he...

Damn fun game... And I hated it in the begining, because of the Fence around the Zone...
Thought the game was like Oblivion, but it loads in Levels (thats what they call it)...

But all in all, Im buying this fun game Smile...
After ALL my work Hacking the game it turned out to be extremely fun Smile... Like it should of been in the beginning...

There is a way to HACK the splatter/jamming of guns/bullets and such, Im going to do within a hour or so... Smile...

You're a modder? Then take a look at this:

http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/4199/ssnarog032007220310l01edt7.jpg
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/3779/ssnarog032007173948l01erl7.jpg
http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/9782/ssnarog032007174037l01eos7.jpg

Apparently this is a bug that happens on systems with GF4 cards...
If you could hack the weapon models so these problems are fixed that would be great, cheers! Razz

Also the guns are a little weird, i started off and after a bit of quests i got the first assult rifle from a group of 3 petrols near the starting camp. I used the camp members to help kill them and i looted them......

Anyway, came across another patrol, sneaked up (they notice you after u get close enough) right clicked to use iron sight and started laying bullets in a semi auto fire mode at one guy i'd say around 4-5 meters away, and nothing, not even a recognition for hitting him. I don't know, becasue i've pegged ppl with the pistol from away futher range.

But all in all, so far i like the game

I need a help with a quest. I received a quest to find someone's family rifle. I go to the exact place where he pointed and there is nothing there. I found a box, but it's empty.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I still haven't had any problems with the weapons, i'm beginning to wonder if its a problem with the crack people are using rather than just thinking they can run and gun like other FPS'?

I often drop people in one or two shots from distance with the Viper 5 if I aim well and the shotgun is also just one or two shots at close range.

It's UNDER that spot, in the tunnel where electric anomalies sparkle. You can either walk through it if you have a suit or jump from car to crate to get it - it's in a big container (hard to notice it inside, use you flashlight). Not in a chest or box - just lying there in a big red container open from one side.

Its so fun, a few weeks ago when i came on here and wondered why you all were so excited about this game, and told you all that it would NOT be like Oblivion, that it would have Fixed levels instead like in Dark Messiah, and that the vehicles were taken out..
You all flamed me to death for being a n00b that doesnt know shit.

I have a question for those who have already advanced further:
Are there any good items to invest money in? Is there good stuff at all to buy?
Or only basic items like medicine, ammo, wodka etc.?

I am not so far and got already thousands of rubels from sold firearms, artefacts, ammo etc. but there seems to be no good equipment you can buy with your money...

Do you get all the good stuff ONLY by solving quests?

thx

Bought a SEVA suit at the lake facility, best armor so far, used it untill I completed the game since power armor was not needed at that stage.
(Also got a black chemical suit prototype from Duty trough a quest that was better than the green and orange science suits but the SEVA suit was still better)

Came back to the science lab later on and bought a Chaser13 shotgun there later on but it was quite useless since I mainly relied upon the G37 assault rifle I found near the red forest but it was still good for close quarter fighting.
(One of the monolith faction guys there had a USP 45. pistol but I never used it for much aside from crates since the assault rifle was far better and I had enough ammo)

Heard about stashes and such having great stuff as well once you find their locations from fallen enemies, before that they are mostly empty.

EDIT: Damn, never knew you could get it earlier, will have to check what else there may be hidden in the zone's unexplored places though it wouldn't suprise me if loot was random, though a few places probably have hand placed gear.

Vodka,

I was making a statement, it was not a question. I was telling of my own experiences.

So prehaps before you call people "morons" how about you learn that for it to be a question someone must actually ask something first.

No, there's no point in collecting money. The only thing I ever bought was ammo (and I could do without it). All the rest including medkits, weapons and armor is available on corpses in fairly large quantities. When rushing to the Sarcophagus through Pripyat I had a few dozens of army and scientific medkits COLLECTED from corpses and stashes.

The only REALLY good thing I found in a stash was a Bulldog grenade launcher + a dozen grenades for it.

You can get it much earlier in a house @ the Trainyard map (that was in the MP beta).

Stashes never had anything exclusive like a weapon, for example. Just some med supplies and an artefact or two.

Will be installing this in about... say... 2 minutes =) Hope it lives up to your descriptions!

Sounds like the game is right up my alley... Any tips other than burst fire to the head? I'd like to get an early armor and weapon that is decent, and I don't mind being spoiled in that regard at least.

Thanks guys.

Yea i hate when they do it like this. Its like this in most games, you get loads of cash and then you cant do shit with it. There should always be some unique items that you really have to pay for to get. Like the most expensive armour in the game is 30 000 so far for me. I have like 150 000...

Everything should be mutch harder to find and be mutch more expensive.

Artis should be very hard to find. Maybe not the most common ones but they should not be worth very mutch.

More hidden stashes would be nice. There is no point in searching for them as it is now. 90% of them are empty if you havent found one of the dead guys marking. Kinda boring . There should have been fewer of those stahes, those who had a marking on the map, and they should have had some pretty good stuff most of the time, not junk.

Yes, 5 mins before the end of the game - there was such piles of'em that it was hard to search the body for bullets, I was always picking their damn guns... so i pulled them away one by one from the main pile and searched'em ))

Only played up until next level so far. Overall it's not too bad but got to agree with a few guys here, the gun accuracy is the worst I've ever seen in a game.
I can stand about 4' away from a crap bandit and shoot him twice with the shotgun, first blast hits but then second blast does nothing. Bandit then turns and guns me down.

I generally have to run and gun in this to get to point blank range, as shooting anybody over 10m becomes a chore.

It's been repeated like a hundred times already. It's even on this very page. What's the point in repeating for the 101st time...? And it's not accuracy that is bad - it's your aim, spoilt by crappy shooters of the past (including CS).

What is wrong with that game??? My laptop runs it exeptionally well in DX8-mode with details maxed out but after some 30min or so (time it takes to complete the first mission - freeing the pal in the camp) it gets slooow and starts to stutter. Even lowering the detal level does not help. And that is the same location the game starts and runs butter smooth before. What am I doing wrong???

By the way. If you'd have the choice ot play DX8 maxed out or DX9 with low details, what would you choose?

He will let you pass if you have the quest to go to the Bar. If he doesn't then you didn't take it from the guy in the first bunker where you start.
