Just copied over the original exe and mounted with the mini-image and YASU. game works better.
seems like you get just a little better fps (not sure), and crew isnt 2D when they turn. seems like theres an issue with the crack. Not saying it doesnt need a load of patches, because it does...

There is a "Crack" that does all patches and Mods, find it at "Game Copy World"

SH3 Commander builds a full profile of your Commander, including date and place of birth, enlistment date, promotion dates, and other key attributes, which are all including in the Personnel File feature. |
Get it here LINK
7. "Sh3Gen" Quote: | Sh3Gen is an external patrol engine for Silent Hunter III. It is reading and analyzing the main application files, adds historic and geospatial data and writes back an updated patrol information into a savegame. The new information shows up on reload of the savegame, in the ingame map and wardiary. |

Hey Capitan, I downloaded all those mods and used the installer to get myself going, SH3 is amazing! After playing SH3, SH4 seems like a dumbed down version with really pretty graphics, the difference is almost night and day. Thank you again for the heads up.

SHIV patch is already being released tomorrow I believe. Soon the game will be bug free and the mods will be rolling in and we will forget all about SHIII.
Fade in SHIV causes the 2d looking crewmen?

I do hope so. I'm dying to play it but all the bugs and the bad UI turn me off.

Anyone noticed that when you sink a carrier the aircraft will still be on the carrier? Looks crazy!

OMG, what's this? They have replaced the fantastic game play and atmosphere of SH3 with abit of ald eye candy.
This is not a sub sim, this is a arcade game, seemingly made for consoles, like so many good original games before it, has gone down the console road.
Pros: Eye candy will keep you fascinated for a full 5 minutes.
Cons: Game atmosphere resembles Hyenas dollop after feasting on a out-of-date Vindaloo
How the heck is Grey Wolf ever going to redeem this plop?

I won't go into too much detail, but i've never played SH3 until I tried SH4. All the complaints led me to download it and see for myself.
I agree 100%, that as a sub sim, SH3 stomps this one into the ground. More dials, more details, more realism (planes fall off the ships when they're rocked by a torp)...... and just more info detail all round.
I totally agree that in the eyes of a sub sim fan, SH3 is the winner. SH4, however is much more accessible to those that haven't played one before, and you can sink something within a few minutes.
That sort of gameplay would appeal to the newbies like myself, but it's not fair to spit on those who are loyal to the series, just to gain a few more users.

Fact is m8, if I had not gave up a large chunk of my life to SH3, then, yes, I would be praising SH4 with all of my drooling lust. And just to kick myself in the balls I am going to uninstall SH3 and force myself to get use to SH4, to forget SH3, its in the past.
Maybe with a few patches and a little attention from the excellent modders out there, SH4 can save face and come close or even on par with the atmosphere and game play of SH3, then with the benefit of the stiffy-on graphics we shall have a winner.
Why is it that the inside of a German sub looks grimy, forbidding and has that ' lets get the job done' war machine, where as the inside of a American sub looks like a cheap perfumed filled waiting room of a upper class prozzy den.

yeah SH3 shits all over this.
This would have been FAR better if u were playing as the Japanese....
In SH3 u actually felt like the underdog.. and as the war dragged on ur situation got more and more and more hardcore....
In this u know ur gonna win...
By the way just for the record i think SH3 has better graphics than this...
