In game you have to change something @ Options - Video - Render - use the first one, think that's dx 8 (not shure)

For your sake I hope you're running dual boot XP/Vista.

Vista is still not mature yet.

kenny64....good luck uninstalling Vista....Windows Vista dosen't like to be uninstalled....even with your Vista disk or with the XP disk...look for a program called KillDisk @ http://www.killdisk.com/....It was the fastest and easiest solution to format my HD and re-install XP

To all the people running the game on high-end pc's and have stuttering etc... :
Are you playing in DX8 or DX9 mode?

So many years in development and still so unplayable on some (monster) systems, what a shame in PC-gaming these days....

Guys, I just played the game with my P-3000, 1024 RAM, Radeon X800 pro, and it works great on high quality config, so don't worry Smile

Now for a question of mine for the people who already play the game, is there a way to remove the radioactivity radiation completely? all I know is that you can delay the effect using Vodka and some other, but it won't remove it completly.. so when the radiation effect comes back - it won't stop untill you're dead =/

Anyone knows how to remove it completely?

Yup, my feeling from few hours of playing. Everything else is done good, except the bloody firefights. Might as well play lottery if you hit anything with those guns against someone who is more far then 10 meters from you.

Looks aside, that game is just dated gameplaywise. There is nearly no interaction with your environment. It just plays like a game that should have been released 3-4 years ago. And that is not a good thing, it just feels old. They should never released it, now you get the bitter pill to see how bad a game can feel that was so hyped for so long. Hope they never bring Duke Nukem.

Heh THAT's the truth. I was behind a tree. . . not far off from my opponent and I was hitting the ground infront of him or just behind him above his head. Could never get a shot on him. Was silly to say the least. Not to mention I got some kind of military rifle (can't remmeber the type) and couldn't hit him with that or the silent pistol I found.

I like the game though.
All these people having problems with the E6600, Gforce 8800 GTX's, etc have me worried though. That's pretty much the system I am going to be be building very very soon. Gme is playing fine on my p4 3.4 ghz, 7900 GT, 2 gigs of ram machine though.

I just get whatever is fastest... and intel is the fastest.
But let's not digress here.

The game seems to just be buggy and in need of a patch or two.

Is it worse then the MP Beta? The MP Beta ran extremely fine on a conroe@3gig and a 8800gtx! And the game looks very good and plays fine! And the shootouts are great in mp!

Everything so bad in sp or what the? I want to buy it...but if it's bullshit?

Fun game and Im not sure what "bad" graphics some of you are talking about, might be time for a new PC Wink. One thing that does feck me right off is the damage model. Did these clowns even ever fire any guns? You consistently have to pump between 1/3 and 1/2 of a mag into the AI to get them down. It seriously detracts from what is an otherwise enjoyable game.

B

1. The ballistics are different from other games. So when you think that you pump a whole 1/3 mag you only hit 'em with a few bullets.

2. most of the guys in the beginning (soldiers) have armor so either get AP rounds or aim for the head

From my own experience: switching to single-shot mode and hitting neck/head is the best solution. And after a few hours I can now easily pick a guy off a distant watchtower with 1-2 shots using the sights (RMB) Laughing

I agree with BrokenCrow but i do consider the aspekts you say Vodka. But sometimes it just takes a few shots to many to feel realistic. It also seems like if you shoot someone at a distans (i dont have any scope yet) the enemy get into an "im hit animation", if you fire while they are doing this it feels like 75% of the bullits are going throu. This dont happen when upclose, but on longer ranges say... 70m~+ shots. My aim is not that bad, been playing FPS online for many years Wink So i know when something is fishy.

Btw i ask again:
1) Has the first merchant disaperd for anyone? He has for me :/
2) Is there any way to team up with other individual STALKERS?

In a word, the damage/ballistics model is crap. It is extremely frustrating and not based on real world weapons at all. Even point blank, the enemies are taking 5 or more rounds which is ludicrous, armour or not. Distance shooting is a piss take unless you happen to be AI, in which case they'll peg you off ad nauseam. TBH, its ruining the game for me. Im sick of emptying mags only to be shot dead by AI at 40 yards with a pistol. Good potential mind you, couple of patches could make the difference.

Wondr just how moddable this game is?
Seems to me, it would make a perfect base for some kind of zombie modification... course hardly anyone ever seems to finish those.

Would love to see some game based on World War Z.
