I just got into this underground tunnel zone, and man, this place looks amazing, they really did super effects on the lightning here, but my 8800GTX/6600E/2GB DDR 800 system barely manages to keep it at 25fps in this area(Outside it's 50ish). They mislabeled this game as an RPG, it's barely so. You can really feel the "FPS" in these tunnels, and see the great AI and good physics and most amazing lighting I ever seen in a game.
I'll be back with more impressions. BTW if this game is moddable, i'm betting someone will make mod with skills and experience for it, because I was really hoping for more RPG elements, and this game has potential for it.

I totally agree, they did a superb job with lightning. When its dark and you have the flashlight out, it just looks beautiful. Even thought the shadows are pretty demanding on the hardware, i just cant turn them off, it just wouldnt look and feel the same. So far im enjoying it and the atmosphere is great even if the graphics dont look crysis-like.

I got artifacts once...in the first camp, and now i was in that undeground zone for like an hour, and they haven't appeared there, so I doubt it's from the overheating, because that zone is much more gpu intensive than the first camp... (Although any time I did have artifacts in any game they were from overheating, so...)
I like this game the more I play it. I gotta say I expected something different, but I'm starting to like this aswell. Definately worth playing.

Yes, but the 8800 is at default speed..no OC, and i dont know why but this game is overheating my graphics card, is running at 69ºC, normally is at 64ºC at full load. well, 69ºC is a pretty normal temperature for a 8800..so its not the temperature causing the artifacts, is the game, must be a bug with the 8800 cards...perfomance sucks in this game too. looks like rainbow six vegas, but really worst in some areas i get like 5 fps only in the tunnel

This is what a rebuilt routine looks like ViTALiTY, take a close
look as you might learn something.
Like we stated earlier we don't like to proper unless there is a
good reason, but ViTALiTY has really been pushing trying to see
what sorts of crap they could get away with and it seems ViTALiTY
themselves have not been hesitating to proper RELOADED for
screw-ups much smaller than this.
Well we hope you have all learned something and STALKER is really
too big a title to let the world only have the improper crack. The
last thing we want is to escalate a silly NFO-war in the scene but
ViTALiTY is really insulting all hardworking crackers in the scene
by releasing such crap as if it was proper work. I promise you
anyone who knows even a tiny bit about cracking will understand
that this is a completely amateurish and unacceptable
cracking-technique to simply disable a routine instead of
rebuilding it. If their executable runs reliably it is PURE LUCK!
So please ViTALiTY take a little time to research, develop your
techniques and then start releasing again.
Long story short: ViTALiTY doesn't know how to fix partially
relocated routines therefore they choose to completely disable
that routine since they didn't know how to fix it. This routine
was present in the original executable and therefore it should
also be in the crack. This is a bad crack, and we bring you the
proper one.
Enjoy

I had no problems whatsoever with the Vitality release. Been playing the game for about 4h now and no crashes.
Love the game already...
Behold his GLORY! Bow for the technical master!
