Leeched it and played, the game is nothing special, IMHO. Quite frankly I feel positively cheated, lol.

To be so closed minded as to say Crysis is the only game worth being 'hyped' about leaves me wondering if your one of those gamers who sticks to a single genre or what..
I'm pretty hyped about some MM's, and I'm sure there are some RTS or whatever that are on the horizon to be 'hyped' about. But I digress.
Got this bad boy running and have to say, being one of the people not to follow the game too intently and not get wrapped up in the 'hype' it is actually a pretty decent game. Everyone expects something groundbreaking graphically these days. Fact is, it has some things other games don't graphics wise. Some new gameplay at the very least, and it is a GOOD game. When crysis comes out we can talk about the engine and everything but lets just remember all the other games coming out that have graphics inferior to this, and remember its a self - coded engine.

Hype is a bad thing... Hype wastes your time.
Being a dumb fanboy who's hyped about every decent upcoming game is worthless...
As I said... Crysis is the only upcoming game that gonna be groundbreaking in various aspects, thus it's a game worth being hyped about.

I am DL right at this moment.
Just to mention, if you want more in-depth settings to adjust the game you like, and have an Nvidia video card, then I suggest getting nHancer.
I use nHancer to adjust all my games.
Also, Optimized drivers are better to go with too.
Edit: I know I will get bashed for this, but I think even Crysis wont be a good game. Why? because all it has going for it is graphics, other then that, it has everything else every other game has done (besides the physics, which fall kinda into the graphics department). I mean, its like a UT2K4 mixed with Far Cry and you get Crysis. Thats about it.
Now this game will be fun, hours of gameplay, and huge terrain.

People are hyped about this game cause it's supposed to be the new Deus Ex which is obviously a legendary game. People can be hyped about what they want to and should be looked down on.

Bioshock will be the next Deus Ex... Stalker is more like a modern-day elder scrolls game.

Which release is better??? :S
I have both on the private torrent site that I use and I just can't DECIDE between the two? Unleashed or Vitality? It's really anybody's game right now, a toss-up is what you mgiht call it, it could basically go either way here...

I guess if there is a patch later and no crack for a week or so Ur pretty fuked with the Vitality version...that's about it I guess. U could also apply the patch from the Vitality to Unleashed if you feel like doing so later. Either way I am getting the Unleashed version.
The guy was just asking an opinion...that's hardly a request

I think they are both virgin images of the game. What do you think? I'd rather get the one that has not been tampered with and is in it's original form. Maybe Unleashed release?

1. pre... wtf is this?... check a screenshot
2. if it looks good, dl and sleep
3. install and play
4. finish game unless i get bored with it
5. uninstall and wait for the next rls to come around
6. repeat
judging from all the hd vids this game should be good entertainment, and i think the graphics look quite good... compared to bf2 they look amazing (and thats what i been lookin at mostly the last couple months)...
overall hyping shit is stupid these days. if the game is decent you buy it, if it's not you play it anyways and then uninstall it. done deal

I played for about an hour and a half, and for now I have to say: nothing special. I knew the hype was too much so I prepared myself for the worse...
It's just an open-ended FPS game...I'm still in the starter zone and there were three "real" quests in total. All other quests are randomly generated, and you can typicaly choose from "Clear camp", "Kill stalker", "Bring artifact", "Bring item". Killing wildlife is absolutely useless ,as I found for now, they drop nothing, except perhaps 1 or 2 of those random quest items (which I doubt anyone will play), and they're just a waste of bullets.
I like that you have to learn by your mistakes, for example it's hard to tell who you can, and who you can't kill, unless you tried it before. For example, army is blocking the entrance out of the begginer zone and they have much better weapons than you, plus there is no place to hide = you're dead.
Anomalies are everywhere, you gotta be really careful where you step. Like 3 of them on screen at any given time.
Artifacts are wierd, and they stupid bonuses like +2% radiation resistance, or 4% physical resistance. You can put them on your belt, but only for a short while, because they radiate you, and you lose health. You can have 4-5 on the belt at a time.
There is obviously good AI at work here (or at least a good idea behind it, can't really tell if it has been implemented well), wildlife fights eachother, you do missions with other stalkers, and they behave fine. But it feels too much like overhyped Radiant AI from Oblivion. Sure, NPC's are smart, and know how to hunt and eat and crap, but who the hell notices when someone goes to take a crap or go eat, they could have just made them wander aimlessly around the town and I don't think I'd knew the difference. Same thing with STALKER (possibly, as I really need to play more). Personaly I think making an advanced AI is the easy way out, because you can't make it as advanced as people would like it (human-like), but instead you could script each character and certain events, which adds much more human touch, and definately adds to realism.
It is certainly a little buggy, I noticed about 5 very small bugs, mostly graphical for now.
Basically, I see no point in exploring stuff around the main quest...Artifacts are pretty crappy (for now), you get new weapons during main quest missions, and money for other shit too. And what else is there to do? Progress main story, kill stuff, gather artifacts and weapons. That's it... Now... Only progressing the main story and killing stuff would be okay for a linear FPS, because you can do it much better in a linear game, and here...it's just silly.
So, this game is like Oblivion when you take away the skills and stats, experience and levels. Imagine playing oblivion without those, is there a point? I don't see one, and I ask myself why should I ever stray from the main quest, which brings the point, why make it open ended at all?
Game looks nicely modeled, zones are large with a few interest points in each, all in all pretty well done. Character/beast/weapon models could have been done much better, especially the llow-res texture on the weapon models.
I didn't proof read this so don't flame for spelling/grammar/logical mistakes plz, and also realize I only played for hour and half, basically just the starting zone so ALL of this might change later.

Item Drop? LOL, this ain't Elder Scrolls!

O RLY? I guess you should go and read up a bit about A-Life.
Quote: | they could have just made them wander aimlessly around the town and I don't think I'd knew the difference. |
That's the difference between good AI and crappy AI. If they were just wandering, they would be the latter. By your quote I can also tell you that is the difference between a smart gamer and a stupid fuck that might as well play linear FPS' for the rest of his life.

Stop it! I'm laughing my ass off already!

This is a First-Person Shooter with RPG elements, NOT the other way around.
