In this game.. do you discover new areas (like shops to upgrade your car and what not) by actually driving around and discovering them or do those places appear on the map as you level up? If they open up by leveling, I dont want to runa round the map looking for places.
Yep u discover new areas/races/missions when u drive around..

Well, I don't know if this has been posted before. But here's a way to remove all traffic in TDU and greatly improve fps. C:\"YourGameFolder"\Euro\Bnk\Vehicules and rename the "Traffic" folder to whatever you want. It works great for me. The only catch is that the game doesn't exit properly. You have to TAB to windows and do it from there.

It hasn't, I guess it should greatly improve FPS but isn't that kind of cheating?

I mean, any car delivery missions or other kinds of missions or races that include traffic should become ridiculously easy.

Yeah. Guess you're right. But IMHO this game is already a total fuck-up because of the performance problems anyway. Thank god I didn't buy it Wink I've turned my attention to C&C3 instead Smile

What performance problems? You and your system is a total fuck up, not the game, because it runs at 30fps+ at all times on my old P4 HT 3.2 and 7600GT all maxed out with 4xAA 4xAniso (no hdr).

Playing it at 1920x1200 with HDR with FPS at 40 and upwards. Maybe it's time to upgrade your box?

Guess I hit a nerve there. Then tell me why a lot of other users have problems with GF 8800's and way better machines than yours. Btw, there's no need to get nasty, I was simply stating my opinion. Rolling Eyes

because people all over th einternet is starting to get pissed from peeps that constantly whine about the games when its their own damn box thats from 1992 it gets old fast, the longer time goes it seems people who play on the pc actually learns less and less about how it really works, true it can be a lil harsh but please understand.. you arent the first and certainly not the last, bottom line with tdu is peeps who know their shit doesnt complain cause it runs fine beside the major graphic bugs wich are 1.hdr blackouts 2.slowdown at some startups until alt tabbed 3 and finally a problem with FF that makes the fps take a hit

edit: and the gf8800 is a whole other story and quite possibly driver related

know who to blame before you point and yell

much like peeps blame MS for bad driver support for vista, theres been public released betas for how long ? the hardware makers have had more than enough time to get the thumb out of their asses but in the end it all boils down to money and they not thinkin vista would have such an impact as it had

Runs fine beside the major bugs? That's like saying a car runs fine apart from the engine. My problem is that, even after extensive beta testing, it still has major problems. That's simply poor effort on Atari's part. And unfortunately that seems to be a reoccuring problem with pc games these days.
And about the GF8800, you're probably right. But then it's kinda stupid to put it on the supported list don't you think.

I'm a lil disappointed with the game..it's somewhat unrealistic.

How can an old camaro or mustang from the police rival with a Saleen S7 tuned with
1000 HP+? that's just crazy Confused
I mean i rev up 2nd gear and the police is still side by side with me wtf??!! Mad
Do they know what a Saleen S7 is or what? Embarassed

I picked a Mclaren F1 and was driving behind a Ford Transit look-a-like. It stopped and i stopped behind it. When it started i revved up 1st gear at 8000 and still couldn't pass it. I only can say LOL Laughing
Well but i guess they didn't make this game so people could drive behind Ford Transit's Laughing
but i wish things were more real...

I really can't believe you peeps are playing your games in Vista so soon. Everyone with half a brain knows that Vista slows down all games by at least 10%.

TDU runs awesome on my PC. 1280x1024, High detail and 4xAA. I can play it with HDR as well at 1024x768, but I do not like the jaggedy edges on the car...must be smooth.

Oh and Tresh, if you are struggeling to pass the cop in 1st gear, it is probably because you are spinning the hell out of the rear wheels. I play with logitech G25 and if you know how to apply proper throttle control, then passing the cop in 1st gear is a piece of cake. The handeling in this game isn't as realistc as it can be, but it is damn close. Best racing game in this genre that I've ever played.

We use Vista because TDU is the only game running slow in it.
Everything else is as good as xp, some better.

And if you think this game is realistic, try Live for Speed.
This is a piece of arcade trash compared to LFS.

i have some questions too:

1. is already out there some private server patch? i think it should go as it was done before with Battlefield2. With private server patch u can join server with any cd-key.

2. do you know something about community support? if we have any chances, that parameters of cars will be 100% realistic? i mean that i would appreciate some REAL mod. with better realistic handling and so...

Nope, rear wheels aren't spinning at all...it's just the cop cars that seem more powerful than it should...

It has some aspects that are far from reality. But you have to go to extremes to see it: if you take a Mclaren F1 (turn of aid), start to rev at 8000 with the car stopped and then put 1st, the rpm's decrease to 1000, 1500 and then it starts spinning...that it's not what happens in real life and you all know it.

Hey guys you have to remeber that Vista's memory using is a lot different than XP's memory using so you cannot compare it 1:1.
