I just installed the game and was hoping to enjoy it but what a disappointment...
Graphics are nice and all but the controls suck ars*!
I play with keyboard and controlling the direction of the car is really bad. If you just press slightly the car won't move a mm, if you press more consistently it starts to make slides lol
Ohh my good old Toca 2/3
Ever heard of sensitivity settings? Adjust them and if you still can't drive the cars after that it's you, not the game.
Ok, I've got a problem for you to figure about.
The game runs smoothly on my computer when I start it up with the keyboard as controller. But as soon as I plug in my Logitech Wingman Formula Force USB-wheel, it's unplayable. I get tops 1-2 fps. When I unplug the wheel everything goes back to normal.
Worth noting is that this is the only game that behaves in this manner.
I've got the same wheel and logitechwingman460enu.exe installed (seems like the same version too) and there where no issues in beta. Haven't tried the retail yet, but propably the same. Try unlucking all other usb devices out, if that helps. (or maybe english version of the drivers aresomehow different?)
a friend of mine started to play online and he had to start alll over again he said due to his savegame whas only for offline?
Can anyone verify that?
It's verified all over the place... Goooooood.
YES, offline profiles are completely separate from your online ones, and you can't make an offline profile into an online one or vice versa except via hex editing. There's a guide still up on the Test Drive Unlimited BETA forums at forumplanet.com. However you'll have to make sure (first and foremost) that your offline and online profiles have the same nickname. Only that way you'll be able to hex edit your offline profile and make it an online one.
Say thanks for me being so nice and not pointing you to the past 112 pages.
Since I got e-mailed regarding the guide posted in ForumPlanet.com about how to get the offline savegame to work online, I'll quote over what was said.

thanks for the tip, but its not working for me.
BUT there is another way working for EVERYBODY.
Make a backup of your offline savegame. Then delete the folder. Make a new account with the exact name and online play. Just let it save and quit the game. So go to your savgame folder as shown in the other tip. Just rename the new savegame(playersave to playersave_bak) and copy the old offline savegame(playersave) in the folder.
Now open BOTH files with a hexeditor. Now overwrite the the first six lines (0x00000-0x00050) of the offline(playersave) file with the first six lines from the new online(playersave_bak) file.
SAVE and start the game with the old offline savegame thats now a new onlien savegame with all your cars. Have Fun.
Just another tip: Somewhere in the first six lines, the money infomation(how much money your account has) are stored. But thats your task to find out where. There is a little protection when you start with a manipulated savegame. So just manipulate your money value one time. Buy everything you want and then roll back to your old money value with the hex editor. Yes it is a CHEAT. I hope eden games will change this until the release.
Have Fun and sorry for bad english.
If you do not know what to do. Just let explain it by somebody else. But not me.

Obviously the protection mentioned in the picture I posted above is regarding the hex editing your savegame to get more money and stuff. So if you're going to cheat, do it right and don't get your ass banned.
On final thought... If you're going to cheat, just don't. Mmkay? Mmkay.
As well as what are the odds of the network connection getting lost just before finishing a car delivery? Funny thing is that the game doesn't try to reconnect in-game, instead it finishes the race automatically so 20kms through heavy traffic go right to waste, and gets you to the main screen, where it gets to a "Not Responding" state. Smooth sailing experience.
To those with activation issues, if you used to have the Fileplanet beta installed at some point do this:
1. Uninstall TDU.
2. Search for "Test Drive Unlimited" in regedit and remove any entries you find.
3. Delete "../Program Files/Atari/Test Drive Unlimited" if it still exists.
4. Install TDU.
5. Hide drives with YASU.
6. Run the game. It now shouldn't come up with the activation dialog, but launch the game instead. In game, enter your cd-key and don't check the GameSpy checkbox.
It's a method I came up with and it worked for me after many struggles with the activation problems. I noticed there's a lot of stuff left over in the registry relating to the BETA so I guess getting rid of them fixed it.

You forgot a very important part, friend. They'll also need to delete "X:\Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Test Drive Unlimited" as that's where the CD Key is stored. If they don't delete that folder the game will still use the BETA key as a CD Key automatically and won't ask for a new one.
On another note, has anyone with a gamepad managed to get proper forces out of the game? I have a Thrustmaster Dual Power 4 and the forces are way too weak for me to feel anything. I feel the feedback motors running now and then but they stop immediately or give very little feedback.
hmmm, after i drive a race, my car wont drive anymore
i have to quit the game, its not stuck at all, music is playing, can go into the menus only driving dont work anymore
whats the problem ?
i had that with the beta to
Dont forget to start your car again Thats one thing that annoys me about this game everytime i look at the map i have to always restart the car... very annoying
haha, thx damn what a stupid function they put in there, once u know it, its ok, but still, it sucks haha
Can someone help me out here with a little info...
In this game.. do you discover new areas (like shops to upgrade your car and what not) by actually driving around and discovering them or do those places appear on the map as you level up? If they open up by leveling, I dont want to runa round the map looking for places.
I have exactly the same problem with the same equipment. With my wheel plugged in it is unplayable. Without the wheel, it runs OK. Sucks.
