Hm, well I wouldn't go that far. That's like saying Science will never never advance beyond the point we're at now - problem is of course, it's a big risk to make an "innovative" game, if it doesn't work out the way you planned that's your company down the pan (unless you're EA or some such).

Much safer to make tried and tested games with newer graphics and gimmick features. But funnily enough it's the smaller companies that are up for taking these risks and are falling flat of their faces, while big companies that can afford for a game to fail keep churning out the same crap, that's the annoying part of it.

This isn't an attack on C&C, mind you. This is one game I'm happy to not see change too much Very Happy

I couldn't agree with you more. I've been hoping for a "real" C&C for years now, and now it looks like it's here. Sure, I'm a "fanboy" but that doesn't change the fact that C&C (apart from a few flops) has been a great series of games so far. And though it may be a 15 year old concept, I still think it's original and innovative.

Wee.. 500th post btw Smile

Personally i'd rather take a new and innovative game then a remake of an old game with close to reallike graphics.
Graphics and sound doesnt make the game, the gameplay does, and a few companies realize this while others don't.
This game is as close as we're gonna get to the original C&C i think, i really like what they've done, the ingame graphics aint overdoing it while not being worse then before either. The gameplay so far is great, just hoping it will stay that way the further into the game we get.

I don't see anything here that different than the last C&C offering. EA doesn't learn, they just drive sequels into the ground.

To me the multiplayer and the singleplayer both blend several innovations and mechanics which will turn this into a general good game to play Razz

I'd like to see the multiplayer in c&c expanded... a large (optional online) co-op campaign would really be sweet. Or if you can imagine .. a large persistant battlefield, where each online battle you have would just be a minor skirmish in a greater war.Planetside mixed with c&c.

Love the c&c series as it is but they could do so much more with it still.

Hey everyone,

Well, it's been a hectic weekend getting ready for our second Community Summit which I am currently hosting here at the studio. I've been swamped in running this event which is going fantastic, that is the primary reason I have not been online at all through the weekend or yesterday. I'll be back as usual on Wednesday to get to everyone's concerns and questions, but some important things while I have a moment to spare:

- The demo bug regarding the unit spamming, this is a bug wich is FIXED in the retail version of the game. It's actually quite funny what you guy have been able to amass, we get a kick out of the YouTube videos, I mean who doesn't like seeing 50 carry- alls on the screen! But I did want to clarify, this bug is fixed... as are many others which you have been reporting. Specific AI bugs associated with beating the Brutal AI quickly, if not completely fixed for the retail client, it will be in our first patch which will be out VERY soon after the game release, more on that when we get closer.

- The demo bug threads with crashes reported and other specifics, this is great data, please remember to post your system specs if you get a crash. A lot of you may not be meeting the minimum requirements with your graphic card or memory, so before we determine if its a new bug, post your specs so we can rule out your computer if neccessary! Other than that, please keep the threads going, we're listening and I'll be pro-actively taking the top issues later this week once everything settles down.

- The Web site will be getting some fresh content before the end of the week, just a general statement. Surprised)

- There is a newsletter and podcast coming within the next two weeks.

And lastly, I do want to say that a lot of your critiques about the demo are things we are seriously listening to, and while its still extremely early, we fully respect some of the more popular concerns. Moving the radar back to the command post however is not something we would likely do. Thats a massive game change and we wouldn't make such a change right now only from the demo. With regards to alternate mouse setup, yes for the millionth time we're strongly considering it for the first patch, i'll keep you posted. Walls... walls are not 100% lost in C&C 3 but we've explained and will explain further in the next podcast why they are not there. That said, its not something we couldn't add back in through a patch, but we need to see lots of gameplay first before enacting such a move. So, just lettig you know, its not technically impossible, but for right now, it would not be wise until there was TONS and TONS of more gameplay.

Alright, we're putting the final last touch on the game, so its been quite crazy, bear with us.

I love how they're already talking about the first patch even before it is released.

I'd rather them keep the silly thing for an extra week or so (as they say the patch is coming out VERY soon after rls) to implement the problems they already know about.

Oh well, I've had no problems w/ it and i've somehow managed to get the unit spamming to work once... it was awesome... the entire map was full of my guys.

I haven't played the demo, waiting for full game, but is there artilley in C&C3? That instantly makes walls into useless shit.

not in the traditional sense (futurish and all that). but there are mammoth tanks. and something called a juggernaught for destroying buildings. think that would have roughly the same effect as artillery.

You don't really use walls to stop tanks and artillery (with snipers the juggernauts can shoot from one end of the map to the other). The walls are to keep engineers and other infantry out of your base.

juggernauts were changed around Sad Their not deployable like they were in Tiberian sun. now they just walk, stand and shoot missiles which is totally gay. But so far I didnt notice any of the real artillery launchers that there was.

Actually they're quite badass. Good against structures, troops and vehicles. And there is some other unit (forget its name) which can deploy into a battle base.

Actually most units have special abilities -- Juggernauts have an ability where a Sniper can paint an area ahead of the Juggernaut thus allowing the Juggernaut to fire 3-4x its normal range with one massive deadly volley. Quite cool really.

Always note that almost ALL C&C3 units have a special ability.

I wish they woulda made some other unit do that Sad I used to LOVE using a fleet of juggernauts, they weren't so accurate as nods artillery but the THUD THUD THUD of the cannons being fired off was fun.

so? People like exclusive content. If I didnt already see the bonus disk when it was leeked months ago I'd buy the pack just to see it. NC Soft did the same with guild wars. If other companies did the same with their games... crytek, UBI, monolith, etc, people would still buy it just for the extra content.
