It's £17.99 on play.com and i'd much rather have it on DVD than downloaded and paid for.

BS.
I think the major drawback for using Sprocket to purchase the game is that it requires you to validate your game online before even installing/playing.
Totally retarded. They also say that if any major hardware configurations are changed in your pc, then you must re-validate.
So imagine you format your pc... and for whatever reason a tornado, tsunami, forest fire, <insert your disaster here> hits.. and you lose your internet connectivity, well.. too bad.. you can't re-install your game to play.
I remember an older company that had the same BS activation scheme where you were required to authenticate with thier servers. Well they went belly up and left XXXXX amount of users stranded.
Wonder if they are retarded.. errr i mean related.

Uhh, never had trouble with my sprocket version of ArmA before, ive re-installed windows multiple times, activation is very simple, when you purchase the software you get the game itself (exe file) which can be burnt to DVD and you also get some extra details (cdkey and purchase reference number), when you wish to re-activate the game after a re-install etc you just have to enter those details and voila its done. Nothing complex very simple to do.

panda, use the hatred release. your version has SF which is active in more than just the .exe file.
piracy isn't a hobby, it's a way of life

You get 3 activations, then you need to email them for more, they can take quite a while getting it to you.

Sprocket FAQ
FAQs
Q: You are using some form of online protection. Does it mean I have to be connected to the Internet in order to play a game I bought from you?
A: No. After the game installs and when it runs for the first time, it connects to the online server and verifies that this is a legal copy (you might be asked to enter a serial number). This is the only time you have to be connected to the Internet. When you run the game next time, the online verification is not required, unless your system configuration has changed significantly.
Q: What is a significant change, then?
A: We cannot be very specific about it, but the system is quite reasonable. And even if the system is changed, you can always enter your serial number and after connecting to the online server and following the number verification, the game will run normally as before.
----
Seems like BS to me. Without connecting to the server, for verification, the game will not run after a "significant" hardware change. Non the less i don't think you should be forced to have anything verified after the purchase unless it's the standard online key for MP games authenticating against one of thier validation servers. No need to harass someone who simply wants to play a single player game.
I imagine they did this since they couldn't bundle the starforce with it in a downloadable form and this was the only viable way they could see to prevent people from sharing it with family members or installing it on all 14 pc's in thier basement. I could be wrong.
After reviewing my unlimited demo version, and seeing the game was available for download at a fee, i wanted to support the devs by making my purchase. Sad really that they had to go make it inconvienient.

HEY MEN's!
You can help many people with starforce?
It's not work with register manipulation with drive names.
I want to try overwrite exe and dll in my starforce by the Securom version.
PLEASE send me your Securom exe and dll files in your root Arma folder.
bit1 @ ua.fm
Thanks

While it's not a NOCD or otherwise modified file I don't think we are allowed to transfer copyrighted files even if it's unmodified and requires the original disc or whatever.
Can't help you as such since I don't want to risk my account and site access.

Well, they must put some kind of protection and, since you don't have an original CD, they have nothing to check to validate your copy. So they generate a code of the hardware IDs and you have to enter it on the SF website which then gives you a key (and you spend one activation). If you change a piece of hardware they were using to generate the code, the key doesn't match anymore so you have to go through this process once again.
I still prefer the boxed edition because of the fact that the game should remain runnable even if Starforce company goes under. And the box itself, of course

Just a NFO site to see what has been released so no actual downloads here.
(Explained better in the sticky threads pinned above this thread)
Could try this new nocd but with my luck it probably triggers FADE again.
(Have a legit serial though due to a preorder purchase so that should help somewhat if it's only serial based)
