I was reading that this games offers almost nothing for item-collectors and gear management nerds (like me...). OK, its not TitanQuest or DungeonSiege2 but even other very story-oriented RPGs like NWN2 and KotoR draw a lot playing motivation from these features.

Is JadeEmpire really so weak in this aspect? is the storyline alone motivating enough to play further?
I am not sure if this game is worth getting for me.... and this martial arts scenario is also not exactly my taste. "Tiger & Dragon" and "Hero" were ..well... interesting movies. But I am not sure if I wanna play a RPG in such a setting Confused

This bug is listed as a known bug in the readme @docs directory in the game directery. Save and reload fixes it, sometimes requires multiple reloads.

@ Tydirium

all you collect is gems and fighting styles (to my current knowledge)... you dont have a conventional inventory... this game is more of a Action-RPG than anything else... i see so many comparisons to kotor, but i can't compare it to that at all... kotor had way deeper rpg elements in it...

still, a very fun game, i've never played such a genre before and therefore it's new, exciting and im enjoying it... but u can definatly tell it came from a console and was intended for gamepad use...

if your looking for a really deep rpg like NWN2... this might leave your disappointed... i loved nwn2, and im loving this too... so u never know, i can only reccomend it Wink hope that helped a bit

this is more along the lines of KOTOR serie, previous effort of bioware.

The story was top notch in my opinion.

My only complaint with it is that it doesn't really allow you to show favorites with your companions. In KotOR each character had unique quests you choose to undertake for them to gain favor and unlock extra bits of story...seemed like this was missing here.

John Cleese did a killer voice over though...funny as hell Very Happy

oh you can show favorites, definitly, i managed to get my char in a lesbian relationship with silk fox Razz, it even showed a kissing scene, and in the end we ruled the land haha.

KotOR wasnt very deep either. Jade Empire is as you say, is an Action/RPG, but so was KotOR.

Common, it feels like they took the KotOR engine and changed the skin to martial art instead of Star Wars.

+
Good story
Fun battles
Music

-
Very linear
Would have liked more than three moves per style, its a bit thin.
You feel the console wibes Wink
Very basic lvl system

it is, the only BIG difference is how the combat system works, but apart from that, it's all the same.

(which isn't a bad thing)

Well there has been quite a few romance opportunities in Bioware's games so seeing something similar in Jade Empire wouldn't suprise me.
(Lots of interaction with companions and npc's in general in the game atleast, though nothing special seems to happen aside from the moral increase/decrease.)

EDIT: Based on the FAQ above it seems it is possible.

Jade Empire has an amazing story and wonderful characters. The lack of a proper inventory and more freedom isn't that bad, Jade Empire is about dialogs, characters and story. And those aspects are some of the best i've ever seen in a game.
Go, Bioware! Very Happy

It adds immersion - you can always click past it.
I really liked all the extra scrolls/books/lore and legend scattered throughout.
Hats off to the writers, did an awesome job. (Writers never get credit Razz)

what are your system specs?

Minimum System Requirements
System: Pentium IV 1.8 GHz or equivalent
RAM: 512 MB
Hard Drive Space: 8000 MB
Other: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 or ATI 9500 or better (Shader Model 2.0 required)

Recommended System Requirements
System: Pentium IV 3.0 GHz or equivalent
RAM: 1024 MB
Video Memory: 256 MB
Hard Drive Space: 8000 MB
Other: ATI X600 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher recommended

If you can't meet those then you SERIOUSLY need to upgrade. Those requirements are back from like 2005. Pentium 4?? what the hell do you have, pentium 3?

Hmmm - I would really like to enjoy this game, but I cant get into this fighting system. feels like a typical console style beat-them-up orgy (and I hate beat-them-ups)...what has something like that to do with a role playing game? Why didnt they stay with the turn based KotoR style? too bad, I believe, that the RPG part is excellent with story, chars. etc - but this combat system ruins it for me.
well, enough other stuff to play...maybe I will give it another try later... Surprised

Exactly. I am totally disappointed with this game - linear rpg, vitually no character developement and console fightning system! Not to even mention flying - like an old arcade 1942 game. Remember?
If i wanted a console beat-em up, I would rather play Matrix Path of Neo.

Its not the upgrade he needs, its just the game is buggy. I have 8800 GTX 768mb, E6600 Dual2Core, 2 gb RaM and it was like 15 fps untill i switched off gamepad vibration in the feedback options. Now it runs full speed as it should Rolling Eyes
