ok, so now its official im leaving the pc gaming scene and getting myself a console.
im leaning towards xbox 360 but i still want to hear your opinions since i don't have any expirience with consoles and most people i know who have any of those are biased like hell.
so the question is:
should i get an xbox 360, ps3 or nintendo wii?
things that are important to me:
1.varitiy of games (i don't want to wait months for something worth playing to come up)
2.hardware potential in term of graphics.
3.hacking/modding safety (i don't want to get my live subcription to get cancelled cause of a custom firmware).
4.controlers quality (i can't play 90% of my psp games cause of the analogstick poor quality)

yeah i realized that, but im afraid that 360 could end up like xbox 1 with a great potential but really lacking in good games when compared to ps2.

dont worry its the other way around this time...u cant go wrong with the 360 right now, great games already available and greater games waiting in the fold...
I owned all 3 but sold the PS3 because the 360+wii = ps3 in price and > ps3 in terms of games and gameplay and overall experience.

it seems to be the complete opposite this generation. So I would either wait 1 year to see if this trend continues or buy a 360 now because it has a great lead over ps3 when it comes to gaming library.

Then again if the Sony inhouse exclusives for PS2 were what you consider the "good games" the xbox1 was lacking, that wont change this time either.
I bought the PS2 solely for GTA3 and thankfully I am not forced to do that again now that Sony has lost most of its 3rd party exclusives, including GTA4.

seems the 360 has a poor track record on reliability..might be something to consider especially since a re-disigned 360 is due.
I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

Yeah thats true, but it's an annoyance nothing else. I've had to replace my 360 twice, yet I would still vouch for it out of all the consoles as i've had great fun playing on it.

I only own a Wii for now, but I've been dying to get a 360.
I'd go for the 360 to be perfectly honest. I plan on getting one very soon.
Excellent line-up, and just a plain old good machine.

Well if you want next-gen graphics you can forget Wii. Also there will probably only be very few good games every year. So basically your requirements 1 and 2 disqualify the Wii.

The Wii is awesome but as with the GC, the lack of good games is really hurting it. The only reason why its so popular right now is because of the new controls... and Wii Sports + Zelda.
PS3 doesn't really have any killer apps on it yet, and it hasn't been hacked yet.
Best thing to go for right now just like everyone else said, is the 360. There are plenty of decent games to choose from, and XBL is simply the best online gaming service you'll find on any console.

I bought the 360 a month ago, and I haven't regretted it for a second. I've got Gears of War and PES6 and both are extremely fun to play.
I've never played Wii or PS3, so I haven't really got an opinion on them, but I can say that you won't regret buying a 360.

I think the ps3 is better overall.
The xbox360 is a good second but it will never be the best. I will soon sell my 360 and buy the PS3 because of the games. I really don't give a shit if its the 360 or PS3 but the games that will come on the PS3 are just more for me.

You have a strange definition of "more", crash 
I like the PS3, it's a better system than the 360 mainly because it ain't ensnared in a web of proprietary shit - but it doesn't have enough killer titles yet. I'd like to see anything on the PS3 match Mass Effect, Bioshock and Halo3, just to name a few.

If we DID get a PS3 ISO loader - it could end up beeing a firmware hell, similar to the early PSP days.
To be honest - I now want a console where I buy all my games and enjoy them more.

What games are coming on the PS3 that are going to trump the 360?
You say it will never be the best... it IS the best right now. Go to the local mall and ask what they sell more of. Besides... PS3 is already losing their exclusives to the 360, including GTA4 and Virtual Fighter 5. I havent heard of anything coming out foir PS3 that has made me want to go buy one. But the 360 has oodles of stuff on the horizon for it.
We can get into hardware being better as well (like texture scaling) or talk about the excellence of Xbox Live, but that's probly a mute point for you.

For the record, I own a 360 and it is one of the first generation ones. I have had it for several months and have played it numerous hours and have not had a single hardware issue with it... which is very pleasing considering all the horror stories I heard. So, not everyone has experienced failures with their units.
I do, however, keep mine vertical on my desk and it sits in one of those fan cooler holder thingies (forgot the name of it).
