Seems this game is a mixed bag - reviews ranging from high 7 to low 9.
Imo it is a great game, however, something is missing there, maybe a little more depth...

apart from lack of story really enjoyable game and i didnt really miss the story that much, what is imbalanced is the fact that i went and ran past all the enemies in the tower and took out the head boss pretty early on in the game |
yes same here... I thought there will be some badass kingpin but nope
I climbed the tower and killed him witout killing 1 of the 1342452354 enemies that where in the building

Yea the boss fights are shit
run past all the henchmen, find boss, lob grenades to knock him down, fire rockets till death. takes 1 min.
some of them require you blow switches to get to the boss area. big whoop

only 1 mission
it was funny cuz I saw the guy behind glass... so I thought when I shoot at the glass with my ROCKETLAUNCHER it would break.... but no... you needed to fire at some gay switches :/
But I still like this game. It's not about the missions for me, I like the jumping

It's so sad to see a game like this fail so massively to reach it's potential.
If they had just included better story elements, including scripted sequences, it could have been awesome. They should have included 5 other rogue agents that you have to fight, and each one has one of the skills maxed out and uses it to their advantage or something like that.

The gamespot review is pretty crushing. For me anything below 8 is untouchable as far as money or full price goes.. so where did I put the torx-set again.
I'm sure Crackdown2 will have more in terms of content and longevity, and Crackdown is a great game in many ways, but why must they wait to deliver all the goods. Even Rockstar had the sense to add an assload of content into their everlasting series of sequels.

I couldn't give a shit about reviews if a game appeals to me, that is, unless it scores consistently below 50%.
Take Advent Rising as an example, that game appeals to me in many ways, and regardless of it averaging 67% I still bought it and loved it.
Anyway, on average Crackdown is scoring above 80% on gamerankings at the moment, don't judge whether or not to game get a game from one review, rather idiotic if you do.

Yes, a story is absent here from some unknown reason...
The visuals, audio and gameplay is excellent no doubt, but behind all of these, something about this game is generic. too bad.

Ok. so are you all playing the game after you have updated when it asked for it?
I put in the dvd and it asks for an update, i don't even have live, nor is the network cable plugged in. It seems like its an ingame update. any harm doing so? please advise.

This game has the fall update on it.
So....
If you switched your dvd-rom drive in your xbox360 to another brand you will get the e66 error. You will need to spoof the firmware to match your original drive. You can do this with 360fwtoolbox.

I don't know if the game gets more difficult when you level up or when you move on to a new gang. I've been taking out the gangs in order. First, Los Muertos. Second, The Volk. And now I'm cleansing the Shai-Gen from Crackdownland. I've noticed that The Volk was a little more difficult than Los Muertos and Shai-Gen are tougher than The Volk. So, how does it actually work? When you level up or when you clear a gang?

I started with Los Muertos and then ended up going to Shai-Gen with which the difficulty ramps up considerably! Now I cant access the The Volk island! The damn door wont open from the agency base! Is that supposed to be locked? Why cant I change it?! I dont want to do the most difficult island after the first one! :/
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Thought i'd post this, just a quick question once you have read it.. us with a copied version of crackdown will be able to play halo3 beta? i mean i doubt it cuse i bet crackdown has some sort of key etc so you can play halo3 beta but i dunno tho.. maybe its a good time not to connect to live?
How will the Crackdown invite work?
Once the Halo 3 beta has been activated (start date is still TBD) you simply go to the Downloads menu in Crackdown to download the Halo 3 beta. After that, you will need to launch the Halo 3 beta from within Crackdown. You will need an Xbox 360 with a hard drive and an Xbox Live Gold account.
I'm an experienced beta tester with a PhD in Astrophysics and a minor in messaging Bungie to whine about the beta. Why wasn't I invited?
Microsoft did not choose beta testers based on merit, that would take far more manpower than is realistically possible. Phases one and two were both essentially lotteries or contests. Bungie was not actually responsible for those contests, but rather your local Microsoft Games Studios division. Messaging Frankie, Sketch, KP or any other Bungie employees is futile.
When does the beta start?
The beta will not start when Crackdown is released. The beta will go live when it's ready, which should be sometime this Spring. The team is currently busy whipping the included content into shape. Our goal is to deliver a fun, solid game experience though it will still very much be a "beta."
How long will the beta last?
The beta will only be playable for a limited time. Exact timing is still TBD.
I like bum.

I'm really having a blast with this game. I don't know excatly why... maybe it's because it has this a-little-bit-of-Dues Ex-climate thing (IMHO)... maybe it's because I like the idea of a good guy with bad-ass attitude...
Overall, this game is very simple and almost story-less (and I'm a I-like-complicated-story-with-plenty-of-RPG-elements guy). But I really enjoy playing this title almost as much as I loved to play Deus Ex.
Maybe it's just me, probably it's just me... but Deus Ex and Crackdown somehow share the same feel, the same vibe...

That makes sense, it came from a lot of the same team (Rockstar North née DMA Design), based in Dundee.
