It aint all that bad. Little bit slow but could be fun in real multiplayer. Graphics are nothing special but at least it gets good framerates even if there is a lot of action.

The game's actually really cool, great graphics and easy to get into if you've already played BF1942, etc. The amazing thing is, this game doesn't lag on my system when the Sims 2 lags the shit out of it. Runs perfectly.. always a plus nowadays.

Phew - I was getting worried that you wern't in fact downloading it, which would mean the testing phase would be delayed - Thanks for clearing it up.
Please post to tell us when you have finished downloading and testing has officially begun.
Speed
BTW - Just in case anyone is interested - I am also dowloading - however due to other commitments - won't be entering the testing cyle until later in the week - i'll keep you posted. |
Well ive finished downloading it, tested it.
First impressions: The game can NOT be a match for Battlefield 1942, but it has a good entertainment value afterall. i would give it 8/10.
I LOVE STARWARS

Personally I think the areas are just too small. For person to person fighting it is large enought, but when you start flying around in X-Wings and Tie Fighters the game area just gets waaay to small.

ok I tried the SP part for almost 3 hours and heres my short review; the game lets u play short campaigns very similar to Battlefield 1942. Its very much like a mod except everything is set in the Star Wars world. You can play as the rebels or the empire or the republic, gameplay is fast but maps are a tad too small for all the action and number of players, AI in the SP is real crap, you can stand in one spot and shoot those computer controlled AI and they wont even budge, most times they dont even return fire. Camping is th ebest option in SP, get on somewhat higher terrain and rain bullets upon the enemies no one will bother you at all. Worst of all is the hit detection, you need to pump in almost a whole clip of bullets, whatever into ur enemy for a kill, headshots are better it only takes 2, weapons dont really sound a whole deal, most have the zing zing thats so star wars like. The game has a lot of potential in MP though, since most of its flaws are in the computer AI, vehicles are pretty fun really, the best part of the game, those scotter like thingies really rock, I am waiting ffor a server patch but I wont be buying it, cos the game may not stay on long on the gamers' radar especially with other titles on the horizon.

Play the level Geonosis: Spire if you havnt already, thats the most intense level i've played yet, and the vehicles are so wierd but oh so fun.
The problem with this game is that the shots from vehicles insta kill any troop, fire like 6 at a time, and even have a blast radius. You can easily kill 10-15 people in a split second with one vehicle, and if thats how it is in MP I see it getting very frustrating for the little troops on the ground.
Also the levels are too small for some of these flying vehicles, why couldnt they make a huge vehicle only map, or a outer space map, and give us alot more room to fly around.

Yeah I agree. And you have to turn up the mouse sensitivity to make the flying controls any good. I've found the flying vehicles (minus the snowspeeder) to be relatively useless.
I really like the urban combat settings in this, like Bespin and Naboo and such

I think Hoth is done very well, feels like enough flying space there (for me anyways).
As for the vehicles, I'm glad one game finally had the balls to represent them properly.
I'm glad they can tear through troops like nobody's business. Unlike Battlefield where one well positioned troop can seriously hinder a vehicle.
The AT-AT really is something to be feared, if you can't fight it, you better be runnin', it's a very cool feeling and adds to the atmosphere very well.
This isn't the best game in the world, but seeing as how I'm a SW fan, and the Battlefield games are my all time favorite PC games, I'm enjoying this very much.

I think that I'll buy the original version, if you tell me that it's awesome in single I imagine in multiplayer. Anyways I'm getting it now.

The only problem I have with this game is that you can't set the amount of reinforcements. Some intense battles are over far to quickly.

Star_Wars_Battlefront_Private_Server_Patch-VENGEANCE
is this real?
btw, I'm liking the game so far. Something "different" for a change.. not the best game I ever played but still fun no doubt about it.

Just do instant action. After you pick the map it will ask which side you want to play.

Just played Hoth map for 10 minutes and the game is 1000 bettter than the Star Wars Mod for BF 1942.
I had no problem with the mouse (as someone mentioned earlier) - it's fine - and the vehicle/foot soldier balance seems good to me.
This game has huge potential if we remeber back to BF 1942 Version 1.0.
Bring on some bigger maps and a few tweaks and it will be great.
