anyone tried the farStone products as replacement for DaemonTools?

http://www.farstone.com/software/cd-emulators.htm

the product data sheet claims:

Quote:
Copyright Protection Support: VirtualDrive Pro
supports many of the newest titles with DVD
SecuROM, SecuROM 7, StarForce 3, SafeDisk1,
SafeDisk2, LaserLock, and SMARTe protection

StarForce 4 is not listed...

couldn't find any info if the do the emulation via SCSI or IDE drivers.

Tages is the only protection that beats Daemon Tools and Alcohol. If that isn't supported then there's no reason to clutter your XP installation with another virtual drive program. Plus it could trigger some more blacklists.

I will stick with DT and Alc and screw Gamejack (what a piece of crap) and this VirtualDrive.

Thats wrong

- Starforce 4.7 uses same technics as TAGES (twinsector secure data content)
- DT would support it if u read the twinsector area in the right way and save the correct data in the mdf

-> all you need todo is:
1. read dvd forward -> save mdf
2. read dvd backward -> save mdf
3. compare both mdf and check the sectors of TAGES secure area
4. replace the content in the TAGES sectors
5. mount and play -> ask the russians/chinese ... they tooled it to sell copies on black market if games are not cracked

and the only program that can make those Tages images today is Virtual CD 8.0.0.6

@ Freakshow

Why do you say I am wrong ? I am talking about clone backups and emulation, not perfect backups. Tages is the only protection that can't be cloned and emulated by Alcohol and Daemon Tools. Check my first post now. Guess I wasn't wrong after all.
