The sound drivers are totally fucked right now. The statement on Creative's website reads like a hate letter to MS for completely ripping up the Directsound HAL. The tone of their Vista faq litterally made me expect to read an f-bomb somewhere in the technical explanation.

I think you're stuck with the gameport situation. I don't think there are any drivers coming out anytime soon to support Vista with those old joysticks.

You could try this, it's a USB to gameport adaptor. Otherwise correct me if I'm wrong you need to buy a newer USB joystick.

Yeah those sticks are expensive as hell especially the Flightsim oriented ones. Are you connecting it via your motherboard or a soundcard?

Just got Vista x64 Ultimate up and running...however I've got a few major quirks, wondering if anyone else has encountered them.

1. Hard-drives seem to be going into sleep mode or something. I'm doing random shit and all of a sudden I hear a click and my harddrive warming up (or turning off), fuck if I know. I check, all drives are present and accounted for under My Computer. What the fuck is going on?

2. I've played with the various soundsetups and have settled for just Stereo (use a headset). However, sound seems to ECHO. Like it plays out of both the left and right channel, at the same time, but just a tad out of synch, so I hear it kinda twice. Really wierd and annoying effect.

PS. Hope this is the right place to post it, didn't feel I needed to start another thread

I got the same thing on one of my HD's (OS installed on different HD).
At times I try and access it and i hear a small beep then I hear it spin up and a few seconds later the files appear - I don't care for it...

None right now if you use the timerstop trick, in the future avoid everything related to the WGA and be cautious with the Vista anti-spyware.

My Ultimate took about 12Gb. I made my Windows partition 30GB's to be safe.

OK- I'm having problems with timerstop 2a and vista x64. Vista says timerstop64.sys isn't signed. I'd appreciate input from anyone who had a similar problem or knows what is going on. In the meantime, is there any problem with just using the registry rearm reset method mentioned here ( http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/12/20/windows-vista-rearm-unlimited-patch-grace-priod-crack-to-skip-activation/ ) until some more permanent solution is developed?

Did you guys notice some isos popping up for the retail 'vendor' release of Vista (the copies that where just sold in stores 2 days ago). I heard someone say that it's slightly different from the msdn rtm builds, in that it has more drivers for one (that would sorta make sense, as after rtm ms did upload a ton more drivers to windowsupdate)...

I just finished downloading the 32 bit Vista Ultimate retail, I'm getting the 64 bit one now. I don't plan on using them until a better crack comes out tho.

Have you read this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6319845.stm

Sounds like Vista can delete programs it deems as illegal without users consent! wtf?

The news story is probably a bit over the top and taken out of context, I can't imagine Microsoft would be allowed to add code into Vista that would start removing programs from your computer without you knowing about it, looking at Windows Defender it just looks like a spyware / malware remover, which can be turned off.

How about cracks and such? I hear practically no cracked applications or games are working on Vista? Anyone tested/knows this?

While not cracked, I ran R6 Vegas 1.04 w/YASU 1.07 flawlessly, and got about a +10 FPS boost as well compared to same settings in WinXP.

BF2142 however runs substantially worse...go figure.

Still haven't been able to figure out why the fuck one of my drives randomly goes in and out of hibernate in Vista, or how to get WMP11 intergrated into Firefox 2 Sad

Sorry for the offtopic, but its related to vista as I don't have these dillemas on XP Smile

Found a decent site this morning for people wanting Vista drivers, it's at:

http://www.radarsync.com/vista/

Not sure if it was mentioned, although mentioning anyway. Also it only really covers massive manufacturers such as ATi, Nvidia, Creative, Dell, RealTek and so forth.

The concerns of this article are a joke compared to those very real of the Vista content protection: http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html

@ JiGSaW
Yep old, the guy stolen the antiwpa early crack which was only working over 32-bit versions.

This is wrong, sorry. Tried GRAW, R6V, Roboblitz (don't ask, just to test engine performance), Nexus TJI and more, and haven't had single problem using cracked EXEs.

Alright, that's cool then. Was that on 32-bit or 64-bit, or would it make a difference?

Can you tell us from what source you downloaded them? Bittorent, newsgroups, etc?
I would like to get it from newsgroups preferably.

Thanks
