lol ... I did the same, only I only tried with the first one! Razz

Sadly, it seems a lot of stuff meets that fate with me. I only try so many times before I give up and delete the motherfucker.

Well if my memory serves me right Wink we will see the power struggle to power between "Marcus Antonious" (Mark Antony) and "Gaius Octavius" ( Max Pirkis that also played Midshipman Blakeney in Master and Commander, you know the guy with the amputated arm Wink ) I guess it will lead up to "Gaius Octavius" becoming "Augustus" the 1st true emperor of Rome, ruling for 40 years and also called the "Good Emperor. That is if history hasn't change much the last 2000 years Wink

This show isn't exactly historically accurate, so I wouldn't bet on it.

It sort of follows the basic chain of events though, even if the personal plots and what have you are made more drama like. Caesar did conquer the Gauls and paraded Vercingetorix as a prize in Rome. Pompey was killed in Egypt and Caesar was really peed off, leading up to the murder of Ptolemy and the take over of Cleopatra that he later had a child with. The plot by the senators to kill him etc.
Hate to post links to Wiki as it is a bit "know it all" like
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_Caesar
If you followed the series you will find that it was not to far of the mark of the actual historical events...in the overall.

Season 1 Episode 1 -

Ladies and gentlemen, i present to you a quote which shall go down in history as one of the greats. The man who speaks it is the fabric from which the society of our world should be woven.

Mark Antony - *I am not rising from this bed until I've fucked someone".
Atia to one of her slaves - "Fine, fine, go fetch that german slut from the kitchen".

The scene starts at 40 minutes 40 seconds into the episode - highly recommend it - tis uber Very Happy

God, it must have been nice to have that much power. Back when fucking was just fucking, and the worst of your worries was a knife in the back! How I envy that man.

Anyone else feel that this show is going slowly downhill?

I know they kind of had to replace Octavian with an older version, but they could have done a much better job at it. The actor doesn't look much like him at all, and certainly doesn't behave or speak like his younger version.

All the 21st century language mix is starting to become annoying. Let's smoke some weed, I dunno if I like the beard, etc. The dialogue and acting just doesn't seem of the same power quality of the first season anymore.

I personally love it.

There won't be a third season either BTW apparently so you may as well enjoy it while it lasts.

The new Octavian was good in the first two episodes but in the third that he appeared he was not at all like the old Octavian.

Yeah of course I am going to watch out season2 now that I have watched it so far, I need to know how it all goes Wink

I'm not saying it sucks or anything, it just feels "less quality" than the first season.

I totally agree, the three faggots they've got playing Octavian, Agrippa, and Maecenas are not convincing at all.

The previous actor to portray Octavian managed to give the impression of an extreme intellect restricted by society and age. The new actor has completely lost that.

Agrippa is supposed to be a badass general, aswell as an extremely proficient fighter, yet the actor plays him as some vapid moron.

Maecenas isn't too bad, but his administrative and diplomatic abilities are supposed to be superior yet he has shown no evidence of that. All he has shown is how much of a stoner he is.

It's still a great show, but only because of the actors/actresses from the last season.

I find the serie overrated. Iv seen whole season two... yeah there are some cool battles and some incest sex, but is there really enough to be the serie that have used the most amount of money?

I don't know, since losing Caesar (obviously he couldn't survive for historical reason) the series has become a bit of a long-hauled "Well this is what happened after he died, and this is what happened after that, and that's what happened to that guy" and so on.

Seems like there is only so far this series can go, and right now it isn't exactly improving is it? With losing Caesar, they lost the most charismatic person in the series. Now it feels (to me) that waiting for Mark Anthony to come up with something more obscene, rude, or something similarly comical is what I'm looking forward to, instead of the intrigue of Caesar's rule, and the calm before the storm.

I can't say I care about Pullo, or any of that. Things are so shallow now it seems. Could they not have added some more depth to the future Augustus?

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Are you kidding? We may have lost Caesar, but Marcus Antonius (yes, that's his real name, Marc Anthony is just a bastardized Anglisized version of his real name) is still alive and kicking. And let's be honest, what more do you need? This guy has the best lines in the whole fucking series. Some examples:

The earlier mentioned one about him refusing to get out of bed until he's fucked someone.

Also in the same episode:

Servilia (After Antonius appears at her house acting all proud of himself and superior): "Don't look so pleased with yourself. You've roused the rabble, that's all. A pantomime actor could have done the same."

Antonius: "Well then it's lucky it was me that did it, eh? Otherwise you'd now be on your knees sucking pantomime cock."

Or what about this, from the latest episode (Heard while he's speaking to one of his servants who was going to buy animals for his wedding): "Those lions you bought me are worthless. They won't pull my chariot for shit. They bit the arm off a perfectly good groom."

Hahahahahaha! Fucking comedy gold. This guy needs an oscar! Who says this series has lost its only decent character?

I thought this season was trailing off untill the last 2 episodes, untill the violence and sex came back like a shot to the heart.

i never realised how much these 2 things actually make a show better. Titus, seemingly more mature and settled down since his marriage, is showing signs of his old self again, Brutal fight scenes that almost top titus' most memorable fight in the gladiator arena, And Marcus Antonius, i was getting a little depressed when him and octavian were going at it, not alot of him was featured in the show, and now he's back to his same old self.

I love the gore in this show, it's so gritty and viceral. Some of the best gore i've ever seen, and considering it's a TV show thats saying something.

It was nice to actually see a military battle too.

that'll probably change come friday, when 300 comes out.

however, hell yeah, they dont cheap out on the fight scenes, i showed the famous titus s01e11(i think) gladitor scene to a few buddys and they are all avid rome watchers now.

the thing that really struck me about this show is the set, the colors, the acting, everything, it feels like your in rome, even the gore is realistic.

I dunno, 300 is a 15. Although Rome is probably an 18 for reasons other then the gore.

I'm sure 300's violence will look fantastic, but for realism I think Rome will still be one of the best.
