I ran Oblivion on a 7800GTX 512 with no probs at all.
I would imagine you have the latest vid drivers there, but what about chipset and BIOS?
Had a couple of incidents with other games in the past where the problem was old chipset drivers. Now I try to keep em up to scratch.

"When discussing personal computers (PCs) based on recent Intel Pentium-class systems, the term "chipset" often refers to the two main motherboard chips: northbridge and southbridge. The manufacturer of a chipset often is independent from the manufacturer of the motherboard"
I think in your case the chipset is SiS 655FX. So look for the latest driver and see if that helps.
In my case I just DL from the Nvidia site, but thats another story. I guess they should have the drivers at Gigabytes site.
Maybe its something else, but at least start with the latest drivers to dismiss if thats the problem, then maybe start looking elsewhere.
Yea thanks I keep changing my SIG all the time.
EDIT!: There is 2 vesrions of that MOBO (Rev 1.0) and (Rev 1.1)
These are the links to the drivers
http://www.gigabyte.de/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=1708
http://www.gigabyte.de/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=1841
I would aslo try with the ORIG! NV driver just to check if its that modded driver that couses ur prob. Latest official driver is the "Version: 93.71"
The latest Beta is "93.81"
EDIT II :
Read over at the Oblivion forum that you run a 350W PSU...that could be the culprit, but... not 100%

Wow! ok I am sure there must be a way to find out what version u have there. U dont have the manual or the box anymore? Or maybe it says somewhere in the BIOS ?
EDIT! http://no.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/FAQ_Model.aspx?FAQID=2234&ProductID=1840&ClassValue=Motherboard
Quote: | The version or revision numbers are printed on the PCB on all range of GIGABYTE's Motherboard. Users can find the corresponding "REV: 1.0" on the top left corner of the Motherboard (Please check reference chart). When user wishes to update either bios or driver please make sure the correct driver or bios is selected to correspond to your Revision of motherboard.

Sorry but it looks like you have to open your case there!

Well a 350W PSU is sort a border line I would say. But try with those drivers when you get home. You work on a Sunday... tuff guy
And i don't know what probs you had with the standard NV drivers, but i would also try with the latest NV driver like I said, just to be sure.

Wow...Ur home or? those update wizards sorta works, but I would just update manually.
1st check out your Mobo version (v1.0) etc. get the corresponding Driver and install the chipset driver. If you need BIOS do that to, not sure if you can flash that from Windows, you might need a floppy for that (check the read me) then I would really try the latest NV driver, maybe they fixed the movie prob, at least try. If none of the above works, well...it might just be that PSU of yours that is not up to it.

Well only done Chipset update with NV drivers, but its all from Windows and I guess they overwrite, so no need to worry really. Just run and you probably have to reboot and thats that.
I am the kind of weirdo that constantly monitors my PC, updates, checks and refine the system the whole time. Its a kind of phobia I guess, but yea I guess I am weird like that. If things don't run like they should even by 2-3 % of "MY" target, I will investigate and fix it... its just how I am.
