					| How much of a difference does it make.
Plus are those Medusa 5.1 headphones any good?

					| since i bought my Audigy 4 last year i cant´t imagine playing without it. And thats not a top of the line card the newer ones are supposedly superior in every way.
Dont´t know about ´Medusa 5.1, i use a pair of Zalman 5.1 that i acuired a couple of years ago and they still do the trick i rally noticed the difference when i got the audigy, but it also depends on the game Hl2 has great surround

					| Got my X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatality card before Xmas, running with a pair of Steel Sound 5H headphones...No going back I tell you. Gaming is like friggin 7.1 stereo in your headphones. I actually never use my speakers anymore...sorta. | |

					| I agree. Although I've just got an el cheapo 5.1 card I totally intend to get a more superior card next week. These Medusa's are bloody amazing. I love the way the bass vibrates your head too.
Fantastic. Worth every penny of the £60 I just spent on them.

					| I would most vertainly get one. Go for the 3.5mm jackplug one rather than the solely USB one. I'm told the jack one is much better. Although the jack one has a USB connector it's just for sound. | |

					| The Steel Sound 5H are similar USB and jack. I got a cheap "Y" connector/splitter Like this That way I can use the phones and if i want just switch on my speakers without swapping and stuff. | |

					| I use Seinnheiser stereo headphones and I can hear from which direction a sound is coming in any EAX/surround sound game perfectly. | |

					| I agree 100% there Jenni. X-Fi/EAX is GREAT! for gaming, for music, well it sounds cool and all. But hey i am no Hi-Fi freak and honestly I don't care. Gaming is ALL! and the rest is for free, you catch my drift | |

					| Well I'm a home cinema buff and a gamer. Actually my other half is a home cinema buff and I caught the bug. I know for a fact that to say you can use this for gaming and the same thing for music is 100% bullshit. It's like using chopsticks to eat baked beans.
It would work, but hell you won't get the same effect.

					| It's a different case with headphones than with speakers. I got a home cinema myself and the whole shebangs, so it's not like I'm talking out of my ass. | |

					| i said good stereo headphones produce much more better soundstage (i meant surround). just buy some X-Fi and enable CMSS. i just tried for a test Medusa 5.1 and my Audio-Technica ones.. nope, Medusa doesn't make any nice surround environment feeling + it sounds like a Lada when pushing pedal
cmss is like Creative's Dolby and EAX implementation which works eveywhere in the games that doesn't support EAX..

					| Try as you might to convince me it's not working. I've got the headphones on now and well I can tell you they are quite good at directional sounding. Certainly much better than the Sony headphones I was using. Which were coincidently music headphones. Tell me, if i snapped my fingers 85 degrees then snapped my fingers again at 95 degrees, could you not tell they're coming from a different direction? | |

					| The other prob is to find good headphones with a MICROPHONE! there is no "good" "Hi-Fi" phones to my knowledge with that, or? And I would not call my self a gamer with a Headset without a Mic! | |

					| Anyone tried the Razer Barracuda HP-1. Sure Big Bucks, but I wonder if they are also Big Bang http://www.ocia.net/reviews/barracuda/page1.shtml

EDIT: yea used to have a pair of Sennheiser's, can't remember the model, sure good stuff, but at that time I used to sleep with my headphones and I fuked them up. I wrote a thread about this in the "hardware" section a while back. Prob is with them is that they don't cover the whole ear. My Steels does that and its so much more comfortable.
