Urrhm... I dont hmmmm. But am I the only one thatisnt that exited about the graphics in this one?
I mean I've been following these nforce boards for ages (at least 2 years or so). But I just registered today (yay) And I think that crysis looks GREAT in all ways. (one of the best games so far.) but still some ppl act like its the only "next gen" game ever etc. How about the fact that in one of the latest videos you get spotted by some "aoutomatic rifle equipped enemys" and they shoot like hell and none of em hits you. Or at least it seems like that. And the player just wack em with their gun or something. ok well you got that strenghth or speedo or similar choices but still.? i dont know shit about this game. ((and I'm sorry guys n girls bu i'm quite drunk now and should keep out of forums etc. and I really dont mean to argue but just give some of you a thought)) about what? erhm i carnt remember.. well seeyou later. hehe.

Bullshit.
Most people play Oblivion because of gameplay, not just that it looks good.
100h is not rare and it's hard to think that gamers would just look at "gorgeous environments" for that time. Good graphics is a plus, an addition to gameplay, immersion, whatever.
Far Cry had "gorgeous graphics" when it launched and it had good gameplay too. I really doubt it came this far by only its good looks.
Crysis might be shitty to play, who knows, but crysis rides with the promise of gameplay that came with farcy And good looks that we see now from videos. |
Alrighty......, either way I still believe that Oblivion is pure shit. And yes I bought it on its release date and soon after threw it at a fucking wall. I really don't care if its capable of play time in triple digits, the game lacks any accomplishment and reward which is the heart of a RPG to me at least. 100 hours of complete shit, i'll pass that game is a sloppy mess.

of course, peoples opinions happen to be facts around here  I thought the game was crap too, the combat is what kills it everytime. What they shoulda done is do combat like they did in dark messiah then oblivion woulda been hella better. All that reading gets quite annoying too. but anywho, we'll stray away from that game please Now stay on topic or ima start gettin kinky!

it's in the video options under rendering, theres like 6 different modes. Cartoon is one of them and it looks pretty cool, it's farcry cell shaded!!

As for the "bad AI", I wouldn't worry. They want to show of their product, and it wouldn't look too good if the character just died in the middle of the video, that's not what they want to show. I reckon you'll have a pretty hard time completing Crysis on the hardest setting.

AI will be even better than Far Cry, so I am not worried about it.

Yeah thats probably true.... Have anyone seen something from the "frozen" part of the game btw? (Except for like one screen wich seems odd or rendered and the very end of some trailer when you see it for like a second..)

You missed the point. He's saying the AI's going to be better then Farcrys. But there has been no evidence to support this conclusion yet.

It's not about dumbing down the AI, they have to write a whole new set of rountines to go with the new engine and the new environmental interactions that are possible.
Such as when you destroy a building and the debris goes everywhere, the AI has to be able to path around that or climb over it, otherwise they'll just keep running on the spot.
Now lets say the AI did get stuck on some debris, although it might not be as stupid (relatively) as the AI in Farcry it'd still look stupid. Adding new features also creates new problems.
The simpleminded "durr, it are sequel, AI must be bettor!" argument just doesn't hold up today. Or are you that ignorant that you think all sequels must be better then the original.

Well, intelligent real-time pathfinding that takes into account new objects falling from the sky/roof or advancing towards you at high speed (that truck in the video, ramming a barn and destroying it completely) has never been seen in a game. If you check some specialized forums, you'll see that a processing power of a separate processor is required to calculate stuff like this for several enemies.
There was this company that presented several videos of their AI expansion card (the link was here on nforce) that does those real-time pathfinding calculations that allow enemies to take cover behind newly-formed debri piles etc. But that's theory, no one will buy it just like the Ageia PhysX card.
So I have serious doubts about Crysis AI. If they do write some uber real-time pathfinding algorythms then they'll need a thousand beta-tester chinks to find all the bugs in such a short time.

er not what I meant bud, I meant if they did as good as they did in far cry, why wouldnt they not try to do better in the next game, this is crytek afterall, their not the money lovin bastards that UBI and EA are. And you really shouldnt get such an attitude. AND MAY I REMIND YOU SUH!!! Terminator 2 was better than the first one

oooo, well either way you shouldn't let other opinions get to ya on here but you gotta admit, parallax has a point, Crytek being one of the few non shit companies I really don't see them doing their AI worse than farcry's. They may have only done one game recently but they still support it, hell recently they released another patch for it. I'd rather leave faith in them to do it right than have faith in UBI doing anything right, hell look at ghost recon, with every release it got worse, GRAW being....a joke, then again UBI made the mistake of letting some shit developer GRIN do it, ya like they have a whole lot of GOTY releases, Then look at rainbow six back when redstorm was doing it just UBI latley, Im surprised vegas was as good as it is. Then you got EA....and that's all I need to say about them. This game is prob one of the most anticipated and they know anyone with a gaming PC is watching this title and has huge publicity, if they fuck this game up their going to be burrying themselves a grave. Farcry had great rating from IGN and Gamespot, built themselves a rep. This is how I see it anyways, their subject to fuck up like any other company but I really doubt it with this title having the publicity they have.
