Anyone done this with a modded console and can confirm that XBL still works ok? I heard rumours this was gonna ban modded firmware users, and Majornelson is being unusually cagey about what the update actually does.

Someone told me they reckon M$ was gonna start banning people from live after the xmas sales had been taken, someone please tell me this isnt true?

They will ban people with modded firmware sooner or later, it's inevitable.

Upcoming PC games 2009 and onwards

Xbox live is a real money spinner for M$ though, would it be good business to ban everyone?

The people having modded consoles is a miniscule amount, certainly not the majority of people.

Upcoming PC games 2009 and onwards

How do you know that? I would guess its based on geographical location, this is just guessing but if the figures were to be based on piracy figures. (which seems logical to me, and if piracy figures ar to be taken seriously) Then Europe would have a damn site more modded machines than the U.S..

I for one do not know one person who would even consider buying and new console if it could not be hacked/cracked or modded in some way.. then again most of my friends are dodgy types Smile with no real cash to spend or rich mummys and daddys to buy them everything they desire.

I think the amount of modded consoles is higher than you think.. of course i cannot give a percentage.. but i would guess 15-20% in the U.K alone a least..

Most of the people are average joes and does not hang out at places like this. Most people work for their cash, it's not amounted to either "dodgy types" or "spoiled brats".

But hey, I think your guess is as good as mine when it comes to how many people use a modded console Smile

Still I think Microsoft, as responsible publisher, needs to take action sooner or later.

Oh yes they will take action, no doubt about that.. if for no reason than thier professional standing in the world of commerce and capitalism Very Happy

Its more 'when' then 'if'

I agree with you in a way, but even those who work hard for thier cash are not going to pass up the chance of 'free' software are they? I know i dont..

I mentioned my friends.. 2 of the people i know (not really mates but aquaintances) are policemen..and both of them have chipped Xbox 1' and ps2's Wink its only thought of as a crime by the poor impoverished film industry and huge corporations such as MS and Sony..
