I tried it,
IMO the controls suck, the graphics suck, they are not very detailed, blurry.
The engine sound effects are to bland and boring.
I don't like the way the car handles, the demo even installs starforce drivers
this game is a whole lota fuck, i would rather eat a rotten elephant anus.

the graphics's look washed out or smt. To much blur effect. I ran it on the max settings and still dint look that good. The car models are quite crapy.
The handling is quite poor in simulation mode: basically it seems to have the same flaws that the first one. The breaks work to fast... never managed to stop a car thats going about 100KM/h and stop it in a mater of seconds on mud.
I have played Richard Burns Rally and its much better than this in simulation mode (feels more realistic) and Colin 4 is still better arcade race game than this one.
dont know if the full will have some more interesting tracks to race on. one thing i only like is that you can use your headlights and drive @ night. Usually in rally games the headlights dont work even when they are turned on and you are driving through dark tunnels and stuff.... like in colin series where the car headlights are 100% useless and you cant c shit in darker areas

now that i have tried it,i would say its quite ok, nothing extraordinary, little fun.
handling felt weird in some places, gfx on everything high or very high i liked, not too blurry at all.
i'm sure i would enjoy it more on x360 than on computer, with arrow keys.
all in all a neutral opinion, cmr 2 will stay my favorite, dunno whats the hype about RBR.

I tried the demo, and, it's dissapointing. It's nothing new compared to first Xpand Rally.

RBR is the best rally simulation that I know. Its shit loads of fun when you have a good wheel and you actually know how to drive a car...
CMR is just for fun game to play with gamepad (with joysticks like logitech rumblepad 2). Liked Colin 2 and 4.

So they say. I tried it with weel, i do know how to drive a car. Yet it doesn't have the good
feel i'm lookin' for in such games. It tries to be too god imho and fails.

its to fucking realistic sometimes... but its fun when you are into sims and have the thime to mess with the car settings. But still if you want a good old 100% arcade rally game with damage then Colin series is the way to go (I liked Colin 2 and 4, haven't tried the 1 rst. the 5th is the same shit all over again that the 4 was so theres no point in playing that).
The cars in this Xpand rally demo looks quite ugly especially when you look @ the wheels closely

This game is ass, looks like it came straight off the N64. The gameplay is bland and setting it to simulation doesn't do jack to make things better. I especially love how there is unreversable oversteer.
Stick with Richard Burns Rally

And who cares? Starforce has never done anything at all to my computers, never a single problem.
I hate it as a protection system, no doubt, it even decided that my old ORIGINAL copy of Xpand Rally was broken.. But when it is just in a demo, essentially doing nothing, i couldnt care less.
I liked this demo, nice smooth graphics, just like the prequel, the handling is too easy tough. Shouldnt be able to play a rally game with your keyboard when in simulation mode to be honest..

For those whom it's too blurry, turn glow effects off. Now to try with Simulation mode, arcade mode seemed kinda too unresponsive, even if I turned steering rate to high. Easy with keyb is in sim mode sound good, as I liked RBR, but hated that you could only drive it with wheel and that got too hot really soon + you had to consentrate all the time, so it wasn't that fun
Oh and doubt this is ment to be like a real simulation, more like Toca Race driver series, with simulation and pro simulation, where simulation is arcade and pro sim is still drivable with keys.
EDIT: there's a automatic tracktion control in game options meny, can be turned on and off during race as well. Not easy anymore with keyboard in simulation
Everyone just forget the arcade mode, it's useless. Put on simulation & traction control off and it's quite fun, as long as you remember to tune the card to suit your driving style. More testing & driving->

What the f*ck is this? It´s another completely different game... Techland does not want to give us a better game with better graphics. Honestly, I give 4/10.

sometimes i get that feeling that ppl who designing games like this never been in real car even as a passenger |
Did you try to setup the car? The default setup is wrong on that first track. Take the 4wd car upgrade to all 2nd stuff, make ride hight higher/suspension softer (as it's realy bumpy and kinda hard to steer if tyres are in air) adjust steering speed for you liking, turh gear ratios high, tweak break balance mayby lower, so it doesn't lock the wheels so easily.
I can take gravel corners with 100kph, can't bee that icey. It's gravel, not clean asphalt. But that 30% asphalt on that stage is really weird, I agree you on that. It feels like on ice, despite the fatch that you are on gravel setup with gravel tyres, but so is every regular car as well xD Little gas and it spins out and tail is restless. True that I'm on keyb in simulation mode, but gravel part should be the harder one
But it's not absolute rubbish crap, there are other games for that That second track is easier to setup on being 100% same surface. They propably made it feel like crap on purpose with wrong setup, or else peeps would just race with default setups on all tracks and bitch about how setup is useless and does nothing
Here's a time to beat for those who liked it a bit, don't know if it's any fast, but first time I didn't crash on that track (2nd level of upgrades & those leveless stuff)
edit: and for the second track also.
