This game is made on the POTC/Age of Pirates graphic engine. I know, cause i love those 2 games.
Made and acc., i just have to download that 1.1 gig of fun.

It's quite easy to get into I though. US server Magellen.
Depens what you want to do. I'm concentrating on mining.
See the Ares warrior alliance master he'll give you your first few missions so you can get to grips with the game. Although see the Merchant guild master if you want to do more lucrative starting missions. Personally I prefer combat. Although this is expensive in ship repairs, ammunition and healing and replacing crew. Although new crew and repairs are free at the start. So always fill in your crew capacity.
I know when I first started I was worried in case I got lost in my ship. But it's quite hard to do seeing as you have a map which shows the cities you've docked into.
It's so good because you have so much to do and so much variation. Which is why it can seem so complex. But really it's not.
What's your ingame name Funame? I'll show you the ropes if you pardon the pun.

Mining can be boring. I'm just mining for cash really so I can get my ship to a decent combat size. You won't need to do this as I've got loads of cash. Just under 700k in silver. I can supply what you need.
In saying that it is worth having a trade, but it will be better if we have a variety of professions, so we can get what we need when we need it.
But if I were you and you want to be an effective fighter for say pvp, go for sailing and attacking through the Ares guys missions. A few of them are just fetch and carry. Don't bother with escort jobs though. They're not worth it for the cash you'll receive.

A small tutorial on mining/lumberjacking:
Your starting city will be Athens or Alexandria. I chose Athens. Get a pickaxe (for mining) or a axe for lumber. Go see the warehousman and strip down to your underclothes so you have extra capacity You should only be carrying an axe/pickaxe. Now go to the Suburbs and equip your tool of choice. Go to the nearest tree or rock where other people are doing their trade and start collecting the ore or logs. Don't convert them into either ingots or planks just yet. Wait until you sp goes down to below five and then go back into the city. Go to the church and talk with the priest. Ask him to heal your sp which for some reason (I suspect an early mistake that still needs addressing) is called HP. Do the higher level converting first, although if you're still new at the game you'll only be abled to do level one logs into planks, or level one ore into pig iron. Once you get to a higher level though it's easy to use your high level materials for converting into low level goods. So always do the high level converting first, then work back.
Once they're all converted talk to the priest again and get your SP back up. Go back outside and check your tools. Get a new one if it's worn out. I generally find that a newbie pick or axe will last for about three trips. Keep doing this until your capacity is full then set up a stall outside the ship builders. Once you have enough money (15k) get the labourers clothing. This will add a whole 50 capacity to your carrying ability.
Selling
I sell lvl 1 goods for 200 to 300 silver. Lvl2 goods for 1500 to 2500. and lvl3 goods for 4k. If you see someone selling way below market price don't be tempted to reduce your prices to match his. Instead buy his stuff and sell it at your higher price. He'll be happy that he's sold his goods. You'll be happy that he's done the work and you're the one making the profits.
Special Abilities
Once your skill rises in your chosen trade, you'll notice you'll have special ability points. Go see the skills master and click your chosen trade. Click the middle tab and you'll see the special ability options. Now then this is important. If you've decided to become a miner and a lumberjack, don't make the mistake I made. One special ability is extra SP and another is extra carrying weight. If you choose to go for either, don't choose it in the other trade. IE if you're a miner and choose extra carrying weight, don't choose the same ability for the lumberjack. It won't give you any more capacity, it will match it. So wasting your special ability point. So go for one on one trade and the other ability on the other trade.
