doubtful that we have the engine. What we have is the textures and sound. The engine is the last to go. It is the one thing they will continue to tweak and bugfix.

It's at least a month away. They are going to release some stupid book BEFORE the game comes out as well and the book isn't even done yet. I think november is a good estimate.

No. Release date on steam will be the same as US store release date. Due to some commercial agreement with Vivendi.

Also, RC does not mean gold ... IF they accept it, after that, they still have to mass procude it. My guess is latter in october.

they said they would try to get the book out at least two weeks before the game hits stores, they will not delay the game for a book

I don't think they would either. But that means that they know there is a chance the book will be out 2 weeks before the game which means the game is most likely a month or more away.

no, the cd-key on the coupon can only be registered to one account. and you can't login from two different computers with the same account at once.

so, yes you could use his account, when he's not using it, but you'd have to budget your time and make up a schedule so your friend knows when you're going to be playing.....

If you bought it trough steam you must have it running, if you got the box you can play it non-steam. But i know there is going to be a workaround for it.. by emporio or some other group.

steam will be required for the game, although yes emporio or a simmilar group may release it in a non steam format, but patching that way becomes a major pain, which pretty much makes it more trouble than it's worth

Yes, the RC went to VU yesterday.

So what does this mean? Well, of course Vivendi will very carefully check such a big hit as HL2 and as Gabe mentioned before that can take two weeks or more. If everything goes well we'll have a "gone gold" anouncement in early October. Can't believe it, HL2 will finally be out soon, heureka!

Sad mid october looks to be the best bet. 17 + 14 = brings us to october. possibilty for bugs/sending it back 10 years. if it comes back fine and it goes gold a week or 2 for shipping and producing = mid october and a happy sublime Smile

Actually I serious SERIOUS doubt that the game will not be cracked. This is HALF LIFE 2 for pete's sake! Everyone and their left testicle has been uber-hyped for this and the global of crackers want it accessible as best as possible with Private Server Cracks up the yingyang. If it can be deployed over da net via Steam then it follows it can be cracked with alternate links pointing elsewhere. The passion to have this game, both legit and not are utterly titanic due to the insane hype builtup over years of Valve spooning!

I'd be beyond shocked if the global "scene" didn't rise to apply their own circumvention system. Valve would help with that: they marketted the game to be known so well it grabs everyone's attention!

Hi guys,

There will be a review in the October issue of PCGameplay (http://www.pcgameplay.com) which is a Belgium game magazine and also publishes in Hollands, roughly it comes to this:

They say it is a full review and they played through the whole game!!

The site of the Dutch/Belgian PCGameplay says what's in their next issue... and HL2 is on cover!
Also, under the 'reviews' it says Half Life 2, with 'Full review; Played through!' behind it.
Everything looks like an october release, and the PCgameplay will play it even before.
But maybe they get to play 'the' RC, but even this can't bother us

If you get the edition with DVD, you'll also get 50 (new?) screenshots and a movie/trailer

they have to play the game at least twice to see if the things aren't scripted.

i mean running it through once will make it seem like it's awesome and such but the second time if the same things are happening over and over then it's a load of crack Very Happy

plus their fire is still fucked Wink
