So who cooks it in your house?

What's your favourite?

Do you like traditional Christmas pudding or not?
Although that may be aimed at British board members only.

Mince (sweet) pies. Yummy.

Discuss all things Christmas dinner.

if you don't celebrate Xmas, then what do you do on a Xmas day instead. Assuming that you're off work as it's probably shut.

That's new-year dude...
Christmas is december 25.

@topic
Normally I cook myself but not on Christmas or new-year, We use a caterer for those days.
Don't know yet what I'm gonna order tho, and I don't really do anything on Christmas besides acting like a lazy slob, hehe

Hehe, I'm not even religious but I do appreciate the day off. Razz
The celebration is mostly a tradition of stuffing myself with yummy foods, for me at least Wink

The UK version of Christmas is so different than the North American version. I find it interesting when chatting with my English friends.

The Wizard of Oz is NOT a Christmas movie you crazy Brits.

It is called "Christmas" not "Chrimbo" Wink

As for cooking we are a traditional 50's nuclear family so my wife does all the cooking. I love the meat pies too (which I think are similar to your mince pies...ground pork, ground beef, a little bit of potatos all in a pie crust )

You're wrong KR'er
Wizard of Oz is a christmas film because it's on nearly every bloody year at this time.

Heheh it's an easy mistake to make about the mince pies. All through the year we have mince pies made with minced beef.

But at Christmas we have a sweet mince pie. No meat but a fruit mixture.

Easy mistake to make.

But we have Yorkshire puddings MMMMM. Nothing like that in America. But according to Sychoshman they have them in Canada.

Normally at parents for dinner with the family but we're all going to my sisters this year and she's cooking it (dear god help us ). Favourite thing I love about our Christmas dinners is we normally have a starter before the main meal, which tends to be king prawns in a nice sauce, it's the only time of the year we have it and I love it Smile

Yummy!

What I do hate though, which my family tends to have all the time at Christmas dinners, is mint sauce, have this god awful smell of mint sauce floating around, even worse is mint sauce AND gravy.

Actually jenni, they have Yorkshire pudding in the USA, most of my northern friends eat them (Dont have any southern us friends, haha). And well in Canada, like you said, we eat them. But ushally only with roast beef. And i fill mine with gravy. Dont have them to much anymore, becasue of how bad they are for you. Yet taste so good.

But heres my xmas line up. I still go to my parents for dinner, and my mom cooks everything except for the turkey.

Turkey with stuffing
Gravy - Homemade with lots of red wine.
2 kindas of potatos -spiced and regular
Pickled beans
Parsnips - breaded and fried in butter
Salt Corn - rinsed and simmered in milk.
jelly Salads - Kinda a Saskatchewan thing
Cranberries - Cooked with orange juice
Turnup with Apple
And of course a vegitable dish, Carrots, etc covered in cheese.
And either a Sticky Date or Cranberry pudding.

mmm, i cant wait

I'm really looking forward to Christmas. I don't suppose anyone who isn't either a kid or has kids themselves can really appreciate christmas. Decorations are up.

The kids will put some mince pies and a glass of sherry out for Santa on christmas eve. Shame I can't stand sherry. Wink

Most of my wrapping is done. A slight bit more of the food shopping to do. I gotta have my box of Quality street and my box of Cadbury's roses. Mmmmm tastey.

That would be right in my case. I cant really seem to understand the meaning of Christmas.

The only good things is Christmas eve since i can spend it with my awesome familie, cousins etc
