jaapie18, matisto21 and other people with 8800 cards...Did you find the solution of your problem? Cause i ordered E6600/8800 gtx too and i want to play this game very much. Did you try official 93.71 drivers for older cards? Do they work with 8800? Thx

It's a crack, not a no-dvd. And you don't change a resolution.

There's nothing to extract from cabs. All files are uncompressed, they are in different directories on the DVD.

A cracked game is a game with the copy protection removed (SecuROM, StarForce etc). A no-cd/dvd is a crack with the copy protection removed as well as the media check.

Spoiler: | You need to use the turtle shield (I hope that's the right english term). You can get it inside the cottage. |

I was wondering one thing. This English/American release looks like some kind of adaptation from the French one.
1) Autorun is not working, and autorun.inf includes a reference to an icon not present in the root of the DVD, thus resulting in a missing DVD icon
2) The names of the shortcuts inside the data1.hdr are in French
3) The Readme shortcut in Start Menu points to "LisezMoi.txt"
4) The Video Card Setup Menu is in French
5) The question whether to install DirectX or not during installation is in French
6) The key in the registry, under Runaway 2, is 2.00.FRA
7) The shortcut to the official website of the game is "http://www.runaway-lejeu.com" (French webpage)
Besides, if you choose the Minimum Installation during setup, the installation process aborts returning an error regarding "RESOURCE.000" file.
I also noticed that the files are not compressed inside the cabs, as usual, but have been left uncompressed on the DVD, thus resulting in a DVD9 ISO. So I just fixed all the problems mentioned above and recreated the InstallShield Wizard, so as to have a REAL English release, not an English/French one. As I suspected, if you put all the files in the cabs, the game fits in a DVD5 (final size of my newly created ISO is 3,90 GB).
It looks like the lately fashion is to release everything on DVD9, even when all the data could easily fit on a DVD5 with a little bit of compression (as with Rainbow Six: Vegas, for example, or with Runaway 2 itself), just to discourage people from downloading games, now that every kind of protection proves useless, be it cracks, mini-images, workarounds or whatever.

It doesn't make any sense. I even have the AMD Dual Core optimizer installed. Bah... I haven't had any issues with my setup until now. I'll blame it on a bad crack/shoddy programming lol.

Small tip:
Spoiler: | Brian doesn't know which grave he should dig up. You have to identify the grave of the grandfather |
solution:
Spoiler: | ust the metal detector on the graves, as the book is made out of metal (the guy with the missing leg told you that) |

I gave the butter to the "monk" in order that he greases the buff, and now i can't recover the butter needed to get the hook with the cable at the surf shack... woohoo, loading last save before the game put me in this dead-end, breaking any possible progression...

Spoiler: | you make the chalk out of sap, which can be found on the tree near the dumbass
soldier, you fill the sap with the tobacco thingy and then with talcum powder.
getting to grave is long story, its about Lokelanis dead parrot, Kais reviving skills, military
coordinates, gps and again the dumbass soldier.
You will figure it out eventually, just talk to everyone & definetly examine, everything you see, it helps you through. |
